Hi;my chevy c k 2500 1995 motor 350- 5.7lt.transmicion 4-L-60 hold a stop caliper ,left side put stop and it don' stay back,the caliper is new and i put other caliper new

I GUESS WERE TALKING ABOUT THE CHEVY TRUCK THE BRAKE LINES BREAK OR LEAK AT THE ABS UNIT. THE BREAK HOSES CAN COLLAPSE INSIDE AND THEY'LL HOLD THE BREAK ON.

how hard was it to install the new pads in the caliper over the rotors,if it was a very tight fit then you may have the incorrect pads for the application.you replaced only the left side caliper but don`t say why only that one.the right caliper could be hanging up,or did the brake flex hose get twisted when you put things back together this can cause the brakes to stay on as the fluid won`t be allowed to return allowing the caliper to go to its rest position unlocking the brakes.

What is the process for replacing bothmy front brake calipers?


Hello rcvez
Without a model and year I can only give you a general description on how to change chevy calipers.
Jack up the left front and put a stand under it, then remove the wheel. Turn the wheel all the way to the right
On the back of the caliper you'll see 2 female hex bolts(allen head) the size should be 5/16 or 3/8, use a
male hex socket or an allen wrench to remove the bolts, if you use an allen wrench you may have to give
it a couple of wacks with a hammer to loosen them up. Now use a pry bar work the top and bottom of the
caliper and walk it off the roter, set the caliper aside so not to strech the hose. Next, put the new pads in
the new caliper and bolt it up to the bracket, remove the hose from the old caliper and bolt it to the new
caliper, be sure the bolt is clean and use the new copper washer that came with the caliper. Now repeat
this on the right side, bleed the brakes and thats it. Hope this is helpful.

How do you change the front passenger side wheel bearing on a 1997 Chevy Blazer 4 wheel drive? Need detailed instructions.


Once the truck is on jack stands remove the brake caliper and rotor. The hub assembly should slide right off at that point. The wheel bearings are actually sealed in the hub assembly which is kind of nice because then you don't have to deal with grease packing the bearings. Just slide the new hub assembly back on. Put the rotor and caliper back together and you should be good to go. Hope this helps you.

On a 1994 Chevy s10 pick up, how do you change the front brakes?


jack up frt end. remove wheels. take note of how the brakes go together. do 1 side at a time so you can use the other side as a referance. remove caliper bolts. use a c-clamp to push in caliper pistons. remove old pads. than remove caliper bracket and rotors.dont be afraid its not a big deal. make sure to check brake fluid level and pump the pedal when the job is completed.

HOW TO FIX BRAKE PADS IN A 1999 CHEVY MALIBU?


Take off wheels, using a screwdriver pry between pad and rotor to push cylinder into caliper. Remove bolts holding caliper on rotor, remove old pad, replace with new pad, put caliper back on rotor. replace wheel, repeat other side. Als check rotor for wear, if bad get new rotors, always replace as a set

How to replace rear brake pads on 1996 Chevy Cavalier?

1.I believe that you know how to take to tire off:



2.For the front left, turn the wheel all the way to the left ( help you get a better view) place a flat head screw driver between the rotor and the old brake pad, this make take a few mins. but your goal is to push the piston back so that it is flush or as far back as it can go.



3.Next, you are looking for 2 bolts these are hexagonal bolts, unscrew the bolts and remove the caliper from around the rotor. The pad closest to the engine of the car just pops out of the piston ( the hollow circle that you pushed back) the other pad will take a little prying with your flat head screwdriver, but it is relatively easy to take off as well.




4.Next Simply replace the old pads with the new ones. When installing the new pads ensure that the shape of the pad is angled in the same way as the rotor.



5.Finally, place the caliper back on the rotor and tighten the screws back up and replace the tire... be sure to put the cap back on the brake fluid resivour




6.Doing the right side is exactly the same with the exception of turning the wheel the oppisite direction to get the best view.

Brakes on saturn


Front brakes on these cars are very simply.

1) Chock the back wheels and put the ebrake on
2) Loosen the front lug nuts (19MM)
3) Jack car up and place on jack stands, make sure car is secure
4) Remove front wheels.
5) Start on the drivers side and look at the top of the caliper
6) There is a bolt that the head is facing in towards the car it is 14MM
7) Loosen that bolt until it stops moving out, it is a slider pin and needs to be pulled out the rest of the way once the threads are no longer holding it in
8) Grab the top of the caliper (not the bracket the caliper bolts to the knuckle with) and pull towards the left till the caliper rotates down
9) Remove both pads by sliding them in towards each other and out of the clips that hold them
10) Take a C-Clamp and press the piston back in by putting one side of the c-clamp into the bore of the piston and the other side on the caliper outside and compress the piston till it bottoms out.
11) Remove c-clamp and the piston will stay where it is
12) Put new pads into the clips just the opposite you took them out.
13) Fold caliper back into bracket.
14) Lube the SMOOTH part of the slider pin you took out earlier with caliper grease. Get it nice and lubed, BUT NOT THE THREADS and reinsert the pin and push it in and then tighten it down, about 30-40 foot pounds is plenty. I think the manual calls for 32.

If you're replacing the rotors as well then instead of doing this first simply pull the entire caliper and bracket off by removing the two larger bolts on the inside of the bracket that attach it to the knuckle. Then hang the caliper and bracket assembly on the springs by tying it with wire so you do not put stress on the brake line.

Then do the passenger side.

When you put the wheels back on and get everything tight get in the car and continually pump the brakes to get them to contact the rotors again since they were bottomed out. The pedal should come back after 4 or 5 pumps of the pedal.

Bed in your brakes by doing a series (5 or so) stop from 50MPH to 5MPH and DO NOT STOP in between and then go on a drive to let them cool down and then come back home and park the car. Try not to hold the brake when you are stopped at all during this or else you won't properly bed in your pads and you'll have problems shortly.

Yes, You can buy a manual at your lacal parts store.
However, It's not that hard. But , you didn't say if you
need to change the front or rear pads?
I'll assume your refering to the front.
1st You'll need to jack up the car if you only have one
Jack then, pick the side you are too start say left front.
Jack the car up like chainging a tire BUT, Jack the car
up but, leave the tire touching the ground with, some weight
still on the tire with a lug rench turn the lug nuts JUST enought
to loosin the nut DO NOT take the nut off, maybe 1/4 " only.
Do the same on the others. Now, Jack up the car until the tire
is off the ground. NOW, Put a Jack Stand under the car never
NOT use a stand. Remove the nuts and tire.
Turn the wheel to the right it will give you more room to work.
You'll need to remove the caliper that holds the pads on.
There are two screws that hold the caliper on. I believe,
there 13mm remove the screws (Take them all the way OUT)
Remove, The caliper the pads, will stay in the holder.
Remove, the pads you may need a screw driver to get the
pads out.There are two pads that have a scencer on them
one for each side PUT that pad on the inside holder.( sencer down)
NOW rember you need, too make room for te new pads.
You need a c- clamp to push the piston BACK into the
bottom of the caliper. Be sure the piston is at the bottom of the caliper
or the caliper will NOT fit back on. Install the new pads into the holder.
.Then, put the caliper back on to it's mount over the new pads.
Put the two caliper bolts back and, your done.
Reverse, the infromation from the top.

Rotors on a Chevy


In the future, please be more specific with your question. For this one, I'll speculate, and cover the bases. If you're looking for whether or not to replace rotors, here's what to look for. If the brake pedal "pulses" when you brake, then your rotors are warped, and yes, then need replacing. If you look at the rotor, and see deep gouges or pits, or the rotor surface is no longer relatively flat, then it needs replaced.
As for how to replace them. You will need to remove the wheel, support the offending corner of the vehicle with a block or a jack stand (you should never leave a car supported on a jack), and turn the wheels towards the side you're working on for ease of access. You will notice two large bolts on the back side of the backing plate that hold the bracket for the caliper. Remove those bolts, then remove the caliper, and support the caliper so that it doesn't fall and break the brake line. You can now remove the rotor, and replace it with a new one. You may need to "coax" it off with a hit from a hammer, as sometimes they get a little rust on them, and need motivation to come off. You should always replace the brake pads with the rotors, so you should squeeze the caliper piston back in, taking car not to make the reservoir overflow, put new pads in the same way as the old ones come out, and then put the caliper bracket with caliper back on as you took it off. Repeat the same process with the other side. You can replace only front, or only rear, but never replace only left or only right. The front are a set, and the rear are a set, and should never be maintained differently. Hope this is what you were looking for, and you get your vehicle sorted out quickly and easily.

Brake caliper


Are you sure the caliper is sticking? Does the truck pull to the left when you step on the brake? If so try checking you air pressure in your tires and then rotating the tires front to back. A broken cord or low air pressure can cause a vehicle to pull as if a caliper were sticking. Since you changed the caliper and it continues you may also want to change the pads and cut the rotors to ensure they turn true.
