Question about 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

2 Answers

I have a 2004 Chev Colorado 3.5L truck. I have had problems with the fan resistor (only worked on high) I replaced it and it worked for a few days then started working on and off. I went to replace it again and do not have power to it now. I do at the fan blower though ?

2005 Colorado 4 x 4 , my fan would only work on high (4) as well, for a while 1-2&3 worked intermittently the stopped. I found on my truck that the wire harness for the blower is in a spot where passengers hit it with their feet. I could wiggle this connection an it would work on all settings again, I fixed it by making the connection better and electrical tape- I hope your fix is as simple.

On my 2004, there was a recal for a defective harness. You might want to see if there was a recal for the 2005. The resistor is located on the passenger side below the and behind the dash mounted to the air duct.

sounds like the blower motor resistor is bad, thats what controls the speeds. replace that and your fan should work just fine, good luck.

I have a 2004 Chev Colorado fan only works on #4 speed.

The fan speeds are usually 99% corrected by changing the fan resister board....usually near the fan motor under the dash in front of the pass seat.Cost .......around 30$ for the board. You can do it.
Follow the wires from the fan motor to the board connector.

Chev. silverado 2500, 2004,

CHECK THE BLOWER RESISTOR AND THE CONNECTOR. THE TEND TO BURN TOGETHER.

THE RESISTOR IS BEHIND THE BLOWER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TRUCK.

A DEALERSHIP USUALLY CARRIES BOTH PARTS AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

Blower on my 2004 Chev Colorado only works on high setting #4.

You need a resistor pack, which is likely located in the air box, near the blower motor.

Blower fan stops working and then starts again

My suggestion is replacing your wiring going to the resistor which is acdelco part number PT1231. I have had the problem of speeds 1,2, and 3 intermittently working while 4 always worked. Afterreplacing this part, all of my fan speeds work all of the time.

The solution was replacing the plug leading to the resistor. It is part number pt1231 from acdelco. I highly recommend this and am 99% sure that this is your solution. thanks
