Question about 1995 Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

I have a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder that has had a fluid leak from underneath the gas tank area. Oddly, it does not seem be gasoline, since it does not smell like gasoline and does not seem to be flammable. It is clear, with no color to it. It does not appear to be from shock absorbers. Also (I don't think this is connected with the fluid leak) , the automatic transmission is running very hot. The transmission was replaced some years back and it looks like they neglected to re-install the tranny dipstick. I understand that these models often have the transmission cooler clog or otherwise fail. 1. How can I check the transmission fluid for quantity/quality/cooling? Where is the transmission cooler located? I see cooler replacement kits for sale so I think I might be able to get one and replace the current cooler. 2. Any thoughts on the fluid leak at the rear of the car?

If the fluid is from under the gas tank then it has absolutely nothing to do with the transmission, chances are all u are seeing is condensate draining out of the exhaust drain hole, this fluid is it oily?

I have a 1995 Toyota corolla and I recently noticed I had a gas leak I sealed the hole with JBL epoxy to hold me over until my new tank arrives but it looks as if there is oil mixed in with the gas .

Keep checking the oil level and the transmission fluid level to make sure they stay full, but there should be no oil in the gas tank.
There may be water, however, and it may be brown like oil.
Water will sit in the bottom of the tank and make rust underneath the gasoline, since gasoline floats on water.

I have a 95 nissan pathfinder and the brakes do not work at all. To the floor and no slowing down. Im not leaking fluid and I've attempted bleeding but it seems there is no movement of fluid anywhere

If the brake lines arent leaking, the wheel cylinders arent leaking, its possible its the master cylinder or the ABS assembly is bypassing internally...best to have a mechanic look at it as they have special pliers that can pinch off, and not damage, the rubber flex hoses to the calipers and rear end

After cold weather starts I smell gas or exhaust?

Probably gasoline. Nissan vehicles are known to have leaking fuel hoses in very cold weather. Check around the intake for fuel leaks.

1996 Pathfinder stalls when momentum or gravity forces gas to front of tank.

Technically it shouldn't happen.
The sock filter for the pump is about a quarter inch off the bottom of the tank. As long as there is a couple of gallons of gas in the tank it should not matter what the truck is doing.
Its possible the filter is damaged or not in the right place, or the sending unit is off and you have less gas than you think.
I should also tell you running the truck with less than a quarter tank of fuel is tough on the pump and will shorten the life of it. The pump uses gasoline for lubrication and to keep it cool.

I put 2 clean injectors bottles into my gas tank and then my truck it does not start.

Hi, You may have put too much in for the amount of gasoline you had. Or when you put it in, the truck was about to not start anyway. In other words, if you put it in and then the truck did not start. You would not have given enough of an opportunity for the Cleaner to get to your injectors.
If you put it in and started the engine successfully and it worked for a bit and then shut down. Then there was to much.
Here is what you can do hopefully under certain circumstances.
If there is hardly any gasoline in your tank. Get a 5 gallon gas tank and fill it and put it into the Pathfinder. Then get some more gasoline and do the same again. That should dilute what is in the gas tank.
Then crank the engine enough to move the old cleaner out of the fuel injectors. The pathfinder may then be flooded so just leave it alone for 1/2 hour and then try to start it again. It may still require quite a bit of cranking. So you will want to give it a rest and not push the starter motor.
It the original problem was a clogged injector. Well, It ain't clogged now. Hope that was it.Hope this helps. Of course, you can keep me posted. I don't mind at all. Happy New Year,
Mark

What kind of fuel does the '06 pathfinder use

For optimum performance, you should use high-test or premium gasoline in your Nissan Pathfinder, as per Nissan's specifications. Using a lower octane gasoline can result in premature ignition which can in the long run damage your engine.

Put premium gas.

96 pathfinder clutch pedal has lost pressure,

usually when this happen you lost fluid pressure look for a fluid leak at the clutch master cylinder under the hood ,it should be by the brake master ,it has a small plastic tank on top with a black rubber cap or underneath on the transmission there is the clutch slave cylinder it will have a small 2 inch rod that pushes the clutch fork ,look for the rubber boot on it ,see if there is fluid coming out of it ,also follow the clutch fluid lines maybe somthing has damaged one and its leaking !

95 Pathfinder Fuel Pump

In the rear cargo area you pull the back plastic strip that runs around where your hatch latches and pull the carpet FROM the rear right to the front left of the cargo area until you see the round/square panel with 4 10mm bolts.  That is the cover that you remove to get to your pump without having to pull your gas tank.  be sure to label your fuel lines.
