If hermatite was used to help seal the pump it will need a helping hand(hammer)to break the seal.or a more gentle screwdriver in the flange gap to break it.

Where is the thermostat and water pump on a 1998 bmw 316i

  • They are both on the same side as the belt. You have to remove the fan and belts and the coolant as well. As you will see in the photo I have uploaded the thermostat housing. You remover the hose from the top of the radiator and the plastic housing that the hose is attached too is the thermostat housing. The water pump is right below (also indicated in the photo)

Have a water pump for a 318 i completely stuck, have removed all bolts ,also used threaded holes with screws that were removed, was messing up the threads when the screws got to the block, did not release...

your gasket is probley stuck like glue. if your sure you have removed all bolts find something wooden like a 1 inch dowel or a 1x2 find an angle were you can get a bite on a corner or on the pump itself and gige it a good wack . this is a common problem your dealing with . gaskets and rtv gaskets form a tight bond almost like glue

Bmw n42 oil pump installation

the m42 oil pump is located inside the timing chain cover and is an integral part of the casing so it is neccessary to remove the water pump + viscous fan etc to expose the pump front cover then remove 4 machine screws to examine the pump rotors underneath.

Show me how to remove starter motor bmw 318s tork bolt will not loosen

remove the dip stick tube and remove the upper screw from above
remove the bottom screw from the bottom.
some times the screw is stuck, you need to spray some lubricant and let it set for a while.
it's a tight spot so you need to turn the starter switch to top and move it downward on it mount.

How to remove water pump from bmw 318 1995. I have all the bolts off and it still won't come off

Tap it lightly with a soft faced mallet to break the seal that it shares with the engine. If this doesn't work, use and inspection mirror to see if you've missed a bolt along the bottom that you could not see.
