Question about 2006 Honda Fit

1 Answer

I have an 07 Jazz with 40k miles on the clock. A knocking noise from the front of the car has developed recently and has become more prominent over the last month. It occurs on uneven roads and seems to be linked to the movement of the front suspension. The garage looked at the car during the service a month ago but said they could find nothing. Any suggestions please. Thanks, Mike.

Get two hefty lads to bounce the front of the car up and down to try and get the noise (sometimes its the only way, garages would not think of doing it)

07 grand caravan sounds like a rod knocking, but look at them & no sign of worn out bearing.

Without actually hearing the noise, it is hard to help. You can try starting the engine and disconnecting one plug wire at a time to see if the noise diminishes when the plug wire is disconnected and this will help isolate the cylinder causing the noise and then diagnose from there.

Rob, assuming this is a 4X4? Sounds like a bearing. They can vibrate, snap, clunk, all kinds of terrible noises or vibrations.
Axle u joints will also do this. Is it all wheel drive?

We recently bought a 2003 Explorer (4WD) with 180k miles on it. After starting it, (about a minute or so in) it begins to make a loud clicking/knocking noise. The oil is fine and while I can hear it with...

There could be quite a few different things that could/would cause that sound. Since you have stated that it is more prominent when you get in, it would lead me to suspect an exhaust leak, either at the exhaust manifold, or at the donut gasket (that is where the exhaust manifold connects to the exhaust pipe). If you take you vehicle to an exhaust shop, they can and usually will check it for free. FYI, if it is not the exhaust making the noise, you are looking at a more serious issue. Let me know how it goes.
I hope that you have found this information to be useful, and if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know. Thank you for using fixya!

2004 Cadillac Escalade knocking noise

Make sure oil level is adequate.

Also, this could be an exhaust leak that is being closed as the manifold and/or block heats up.
