Very important. If the belt is not changed and breaks it will ruin the engine head and most likely cause devastating internal engine damage, usually resulting in replacement. Hope this helps!

2003 outlander acted like the timing belt has slipped but eventually it starts. When we finally get it running is acts like it will die then it finally will runbut not good.

timing belts are toothed belts and do not slip
next if it was to get out of time it would never start
so run the fault codes and check for problem crank/cam position sensors

What if only 16000 miles on car,but car is 14 yrs old ?? ? When do I change timing belt ?

just pull the front cover off and see if cracked if not should be ok but the company sudgest 100,000km or mile so calculate 5 years at 20 km per year =100,000km so it should have been changed 2 times already so just check it might be ok but i would not chance another 5 years

2003 Outlander timing belt replacement

60,000 miles or 96,560 kilometers is about the longest amount of time and mileage to run on a timing belt. They might be lasting longer than that, but they can also fail at anytime after that.
