2003 bmw x5 4.4 battery light stays on

Brother Mark, changing the battery with a new one being done won't make the light go out, as you noticed. Light is still on so you changed the alternator. Good, but the battery light is STILL on. This only means that the charging circuit from the alternator is not working in the voltage regulator or the wiring is not connected properly to the alternator/regulator. A new battery will show over 13 to 13.5 volts not connected. An old battery will still show 12 volts and still be weak or bad. After connected and engine running, the system will show at least 14 volts because alternator/regulator is working properly, using a voltmeter/load tester connected to the battery. If after replacing the battery and alternator it is still reading 12 to 13.5 volts, it is not working and the light will stay lit on the dash. You may have purchased a faulty alternator if the system tests out this way. Have your system checked with a volt meter or load tester bit be sure all the connections are proper and clean.

After i changed my alternator, my check charging system light and battery light comes on, also, my idle is very low now. when I pull up to a stop, truck stalls, I checked my alternator output and its at...

Was the light on before you changed the alternator? Check a couple of things: Check the connections if one is loose you may be running mainly off the battery but still show it's charging. Have you checked the battery under a load? Try checking the battery voltage with the car off and turning on the headlights. What does it read? 12.2 sounds like you may have a dead cell or if you have a bad connection you may be draining it. Sometimes a battery may show correct voltage but when load is applied it drops like a rock. if this happens replace the battery. Did the idle change when you changed the alternator or has it always been low?

I change the battery but the battery light still on and the battery gauge still low

Sounds like your alternator is not producing enough current. That will illuminate the battery light and show as a low voltage on the battery gauge.

Aftermarket lights installed, seems to be draining my battery

first disconnect lights and check to see if they were problem if no change then need to find out why alt went bad in the first place[ground bad shorts in system] if you live by auto zone or advance auto they can test ur alt to make sure new one is not defective and can check battery for same if good need to start checking grounds and wire harnesses

Volts lights comes one; changed battery 3 days

have your alternator output checked. its a good idea that they check it while the light is ON. If they check it while the light is OFF, it may not show any problem.

Dead battery or starter?

Take the battery out and have it charged up. reinstall it and you should be allright. Your car has discharged it completely, and it will need a recharge to start. The gauge is only measuring voltage, and not the status of charge.
