Understanding Trouble Codes 111, 211, 172 Hey everyone,

recently pulled some trouble codes from my ECU, the KOEO code gives me 111, which the book says is a system pass, so I am assuming thats not a bad thing. I further went on to get the stored codes which are as follows (I get the same codes while doing a running test as well).

As with any no-start issue, you will need to figure out if you have a problem with fuel pressure to the injectors, or spark to the plugs.
I would also check the computer for trouble codes.
Let me know what you find out.

I would check and clean the MAF sensor, check fuel pressure, and check fuel pressure regulator. be sure to run fuel pressure test with the regulator hook up and disconnected, if pressure is low cahnge fuel filter and retest, if still low may need to replace fuel pump. Also check the injectors to see that they spray a full cone of fuel. Hope this helps, let me know.

172. (R,M). Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single, Right or Rear HO2S - Fuel control .... 583. (M). Fuel pump current was excessive - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits ..niether one of these issues would prevent the engine from turning over, but if one came into the shop not cranking, look at the batery, jump it to eliminate it as a possiblity, and then turn to the starter

the 172 is saying the system was or is lean, the 111 cose is a system pass code meaning nothing is wrong, your test cycle ends with this code meaning no more codes present. As for the 172 code, check your intake tube between the air filter and the manifold for cracks/leaks, also check for any other vacuum leaks. Clear codes by disconnecting the battery positive cable for at least 10 seconds. Hope this helps, let me know.

go to an autozone parts store they will scan it for free ,make sure you get the codes in order to diagnose the problem.

the 1st thing you do is find out what system trouble code was stored with the check engine light, there are over 200 faults tat turen on the xceheck engine light so guessing which one is nearly imposs. have the trouble code test run.

yes an o2 sensor can cause the mixture to go lean or rich. But you have another culprit also a knock sensor can cause this also. for the miss this is more of what the knock sensor would control. Hope this helps you
