Question about 2000 Mercury Cougar
I went to push in the clutch this morning to start my stupid 2000 mercury cougar and the clutch went all the way to the floor and BAM didn't engage... Any thoughts on what could be the problem? Prior to today it was working fine. Exept two days ago when I had it in Reverse and I couldn't get the clutch to engage to get it out... I thought it was because my heal of my shoe and floor mat were in the way but now I don't know.
The master cylinder or the slave cylinder have failed. I would check for a clear oil looking leak coming from either the firewall/above the clutch pedal or under the transmission. Either way you would need to replace the master or slave cylinder. Hope this helps!
