Question about 2008 Chevrolet Hhr

2 Answers

2006 HHR with automatic transmission. I hear a solanoid clicking sound coming from the shifter area like a solinoid when I start the car and push the brake pedal before pressing the shift button and going from park to drive. Dealer says it's normal but I've had the car for 6 months and never noticed it before.

This time only, your dealer is right. The sound is the Brake to Shift Interlock (BTSI) solenoid releasing the shift lever when you apply the brake. The sound is normal and won't hurt anything but I understand your concern.

2006 Chevy HHR I have reverse, neutral and park but no drive gears. I had the issue with the "pin" sticking at the time and removed the keys by pushing the button thru the small access panel. It happened as it was being driven with no notice at all. 61,000 miles on her. Any suggestions before it goes to the trans shop?

Sounds like a bad connection at the battery terminals, or a low battery.

My 2006 hhr has a rattle when shifting in automatic transmission

What you are hearing is referred to as "chatter," and is a first warning of transmission trouble. If your vehicle has over 50,000 miles, and the transmission fluid and filter have never been changed, the fluid likely has lost its viscosity or has become contaminated, and the internal seals in the transmission have begun to leak. Check the fluid: It should be semi-transparent, the color of blood, and should have approximately the viscosity of lightweight lubricating oil. If it is gray, tan, dark brown, watery, or if it has the odor of kerosene, it bad. Eventually, the transmission will fail.
You may start by having a transmission "service" performed, where they will replace the fluid and filter/screen. If that does not eliminate the chatter, it may be time to consider having your transmission rebuilt.

I have an 06 Chevy HHR with an automatic transmission. The lights in the bottom of the center console for the power windows and the shifter do not work. The rest of the interior lights work fine. Any...

Probably the lights are burned out in the console or the wire harness is unplugged. Maybe someone removed the console and failed to plug it back in.

Car won't shift from neutral to park

replacing transmission?????nonsence!!! i can tell this is an automatic trans setup, not standard. lets start here. put car in PARK and turn key on so the dash comes on. do not start car. step on the brake pedal several times slowly and listen for audible sound coming from the shifter area. you should hear clicking sound everytime yo uhit the brake. that is the shift lock solenoid releasing the mechanism indside of the shifter assembly so you can get the car out of park and into gear. you may have an issue with the shifter assembly it self. if no clicking sound is heard, it will need to be diagnosed fruther. the solenoid can not be purhcsed separatelly. shifter assembly only. start with the listening procedure and let me know.

2006 Chevy HHR wont shift out of park

Probably a shift solenoid gone bad. Call dealer to see how you can by-pass to get it repaired. Some of them have an access cover you can remove and push down to release the shifter

2006 Chevrolet HHR LT Problem

After searching around, I found several posts that suggested reseating all the relays and fuses under the hood. After checking, I noticed nearly all of them were not seated well. I pushed them all down and I haven't had the problem since.
