Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent
I'm removing a dead car alarm and adding a new alarm and a lamp and key reminder buzzer and need to understand the wiring of the car in order to make the right connections.
Without knowing what is the brand and model of the old alarm, how it was installed and by who, all i can give you are general instructions.
An alarm is composed of a sensor block, an imobilisation and control block and a warning block.
The sensor block is what detects if something is wrong with the car. Every alarm has at least door sensors and shock sensors. Each door, boot, lid and whatever has its own sensor (simple contact) connected with its individual wire. A wire (2 on some models) is used for the shock sensor. Better alarms also use current consumption sensor (a wire connected to an interior light), ultrasonic sensors (2/3 wires to each sensors)) and lift sensors ( one wire to a single sensor on the suspension.
The imobilisation and control block connects to the engine power (2 wires spliced on the power wire of the ECM) , 1 or 2 wires to the door locking system and 2 or 3 wires to the remote sensor. Add to that the power wire for the alarm itself, directly to the battery.
The warning block has at least 2 wires to the hazard lights and a wire to the horn of the car.
Find and identify each wire coming to the old alarm and design a scheme how to connect each wire to the new alarm. Only when you are sure that each wire is accounted for, only then, you can start replacing the units.
