Your alternator would need to be replaced and if the battery is old it would be good to replace that too. The engine's fuel and ignition system will run off the battery if the alternator is bad but only for a short time. As soon as you put a load on it the engine would die out because there is a partially working alternator trying to keep up with the demand. Hope this helps!

Why did car die while driving on Interstate and will not start back up

When the engine dies all the lights on the dash should come ! It's when the engine is still running an those lights come is when you need to worry ! You need to check for spark an fuel pressure. If no spark probably an ignition module , crankshaft position sensor or distributer module , what ever ignition system it has. If there is spark spray some carburetor clean into the engine , if it try's to start you have a fuel delivery problem , fuel pump , relay ! No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy

While driving engine dies and oil indicator ligth is on what is the cause

The battery makes no difference.
If the oil light came on, then the engine died, the fuel pump lost power because of no oil pressure. You would need to find out if the oil pressure switch is working correctly or not.
If the engine died then the warning light came on, the switch did what it is supposed to do and the fact the engine died is caused by something else.

Check engine light come on 2001 dodge intrepid dies while driving

If the check engine light comes on first, then the engine dies, check the computer for trouble codes.
If the engine dies first, normal for the check engine light to come on.
You will need to figure out if the engine is loosing spark or fuel or both.

Have a 95 chevy lumina, the oil light came on and the engine died. Added oil, now car will not start.

How long was the oil light on before the engine died? Did you hear any noises coming from the engine before it died? If the oil light was on for a while and you were still driving on it, the engine could have seized up which would explain why it won't start back up. Do you know why the oil light came on? Do you have an oil leak that you're aware of or have you seen blue smoke coming out of your tailpipe while driving? There are a lot of different scenarios that could have happened with this.

"Stability Control Fail" light on.

first job is to check the part load and main beather hoses are ok the stability system light may be a false indicator if the engine has stalled best is to get fault codes out of the ecm with a code reader to help but air leaks on the engine inlet side can cause strange/seeming unrelated symptoms

1994 Grand Cherokee, 5.2 V8 shuts off when hot. Cool for an hour or 2, starts up ok for a half hour or so, then dies again. No trouble codes except 12 and 55; I pulled fuses to check them, hence the code...

Your engine computer is bad. It's a good thing that you mentioned about the check engine light dying also, as this is a classic sign of a bad ecm. I have repaired more than one of these Jeep computers, replacing the three power capacitors located inside the computer, and they have worked for years afterwards. If you don't have the skills or knowledge to repair the ecm, get yourself a rebuilt ecm unit and swap it out.

Buick lesabra 2001 dies while driving, voltage light comes on.

hello, you may need to have engine tuned up, have choke checked out, usually all the lights, bells and whistles will come on after it dies.because you are having to start engine again, when first starting engine, see what all lights comes on, then when engine dies it should be the same lights coming on when first starting engine, thats pretty normal ,have all filters checked out like gas filter, air filter etc
