It might be a good idea to have the vehicle serviced, tell the service people what problems you are having & they may be able to diagnose the remedy to get your vehicle running like new again.....hope this helps.....cheers

When you reconnect battery how much time does it take for cpu to program itself ?

All makes & models are different. You have to drive the car at several miles high speed, than several miles low speed & repeat the process. That usually covers most vehicle. But just drive normally at high & low speeds and soon enough you'll be good to go. Does not do the clock & radio for you. That your on your own.

Just test drove car with 80,000 miles on it. Seems sluggish to go from a stop. Otherwise, shifts great. A common Volvo thing (never drove one before) or possible transmission issue? Thanks

check the colour of the transmission oil --it should be bright colour and not smell burnt
run the fault codes as it may be engine sensor problems or TCM problems
Unless the timing belt has been changed ,it is 20.000 miles overdue for a belt change ( big money repair)
( volvos s60 --30.l,s80/t63.0l/3.2l, v703.2l, xc60/t63.0l/3.2l,xc70/t63.0l/3.2l, xc90 3.2l) all run timing chains
Have an independent inspector check the vehicle over

What's the normal rpm while shifting gears on an automatic 2006 c230?

No such figure. Shift points can be near the redline RPM or just above idle, it depends on hard you press the gas pedal.

Check out your tire pressures? Check for dragging brake shoe? Dirty air filter?

Transmission will not shift into overdrive replaced filter and fluid check engine light is on fluid seemed to different color from one side of the filter to other all five codes are on did shift to 3rd 2...

overdrive will normally only come on after the engine has warmed up, there is a thermal switch from the cooling system that regulates overdrive.

Vehicle stalls while driving, it hasn't had a tune up for a while and it has about 80,000 miles.

bearing in mind that a "major"service should be carried out at 40k,i would suggest a full tune up and filter change would be the way to go..

I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox but no owners manual. There is a light on the dashboard that comes on that show a picture of a car with what looks like a tool in the center. Can anyone tell me what this...

I believe that would be your "maintenance due" light. Most GM vehicles as of 2005 or so have a program built in to the vehicles computer that will let you know when it is time for your normal service to be performed. It measures this by how many times the vehicle is started, how long it is run for, etc. Sometimes it will come on after 3000 miles, sometimes 5000 miles and sometimes more. GM says that once the light comes on, they recommend you have an oil and filter change and any other necessary work done within 500 miles of the light illuminating. On average the light will come on about every 5000 miles but it can go to 8000 miles. I would suggest no matter what that the oil and filter be changed every 8000 miles at most with regular and not synthetic oil. You can always do the service sooner than that. Transaxles should be serviced at 30,000 miles or less on front and all wheel drive models on the Equinox. Please rate me on this answer.

The engine on my 2005 equinox just stopped running as I was driving, and does not want to start now. It has 80,000 miles on it.

You will have to check for spark or see if you have fuel pressure. If no spark you have to find out what is causing no spark if no fuel pressure then you have to find out what is causing no pressure.Get the codes checked also. This could also help in finding the problem.Hope this helps.Good luck.
