Need to check the intermittin wiper relay and try unpluging the wire under the dash that go to the wiper switch if the wipers continue to go haywire then its the wiper relays themselves if they stop working all together its the switch inside

Hello I have a 1997 Ford expedition Eddie Bauer with 233K mikes. Engine runs great. The problem: Whne I first start the vehical in summer or winter the windshield wipers will not work until the truck warms...

Hi MeTV,

I was expecting to hear, 'And the radio only plays the theme from the twilight zone'. I'm glad you're an Engineer.

Process of elimination then:
  • So temperature has nothing to do with it (Summer/Winter no diff).
  • Not a switch (Different locations)
  • Not a ground problem (Too consistent)
  • Not even same circuits.
Maybe it's not so much the engine warming up as the length of time.

What's left are Fusible links. Self resetting fuses that may (and I'm reaching here) be popping during startup. They take a few minutes to reset.

They are normally running through the firewall on the engine side. You will need a meter to check them. It has to be done while nothings working. They are regular wires with little barrel in line.

It's the only component that could be responsible

1998 ford expedition eddie bauer edition winshield wiper sometimes works and sometimes it doesnt... i would like to know where the location of the windshield motor

if you take off the wiper themself and then remove the trim under them the wiper motor is on the driver side you may have to replace the motor and if there is a go yard around you there you can get one at half the cost you can also take one off a F-150 the same kind of truck one has a bed the other one has seats also try junkyarddog.com to help you find one.

2005 ford expedition rear wiper

Sounds like a problem within the wiper motor not turning off at rest or not reaching it's rest point to be able to turn itself off, probably needs a new motor. Disconnecting it should have no relation to the front washer operation, you can confirm this by reconnecting the wiper motor to try.

1998 Ford Expedition Rear Wiper Motor not working.

I would try replacing the wiper arm itself and also make sure that there is no binds in the motor or rubbing anything inside the door

Wipers don't work

I would suspect they don't have the connector to the switch plugged all the way in, take it back and make them fix it, they created the problem, stand your ground on this one, heater core jobs cost big bucks!
