Sounds like your clutch may not be disengaging all the way try sitting still with car in any gear(on flat ground) take ur foot off the brake to see if car rolls, if it deos roll then u prolly have a slave cylinder problem, have fun with that most fords mount the slave cylinder inside the beel housing of the tranny requiring the tranny be pulled to replace the slave

I have a 2000 Ford mustang auto v6 3.8 when I put it in gear it takes about 3 or 4 sec. Before it goes in gear and it hits hard what's wrong please help

looks like a transmission issue you probably already check the fluid and is OK just make sure your car is on level ground when checked and if the fluid is OK then maybe you want to take it to a transmission mechanic.

95 mustang v6 auto no forward gears but works in reverse had ****** rebuilt and same thing

Maybe your differential is shot and will only allow reverse spin or the transmission was not really rebuilt professionally. Was the transmission checked outside of your car after rebuild? Does your vehicle have a Powertrain Control Module (PCM)? Maybe the module went bad or faulty.

2000 VW Passat Wagon V6, 79,000 miles, automatic There's a **** when slowing down to a stop from 2nd to 1st. Otherwise, the car drives like a charm. Any suggestions?

thanks.didnt realise that j... is a no no (in england a j... is a fool.)
back to your harsh downshift.as first is a crawler gear(very low ratio),you will feel the change, but if the clunk is feed back from a driveshaft...
try this, without using any gas put car in drive and let it accelerate to max speed, then braking VERY gently let the car down shift to a stop, you should not feel any clunk unless its a driveshaft.remember very gentle on brake.....

your switch is bad. had same problem on my 1970 mustang with the headlights flickering unless I pulled on the switch. I replaced the switch and they work fine now.

Manual transmission problem

Change the fluid in the trans. If that dont work then your throwout is going bad and not disengaging clutch fully.

Change the transfer filter, and you might need to change the modulator control valve that makes it shift.
