First of all put off the a/c and try to put the enggine idle ffor sometime to see if the enggine temperature is going up. If so then this is a second fault to the a/c complaintt of your car. check on your cooling radiator fan, the radiator for leaks and the water pump. Flush out the water in the radiator and refill using good anticorrosive / anti freeze coolants. Check the tuning timing of your engine and confirm that the heating has been solved. Now we come to the second issue of the a/c not working to cool, you will have to check for gas pressure, if there is no gas or less gas, the system may have a leak and this must be checked and confirmed. check the pumping pressure of your compressor before you fill gas. If bad you will have to service the ccompressor before the gas is filled. The cooling coils and the condenser must be checked for leaks, blocks , you will need the help of a a/c service centre to give an estimate with guarantee before the job is finalised.Hope you try this out. Good day

I recently replaced my thermostat on my 2001 maxima and the heater still blows cold air and the temp gage rises as if the car is overheating. Is it ok to drive the car till I can fix the problem?

when the gauges are telling you that a problem exists like over heating. Cold air may mean an air lock in the cooling system. So I consider it to be foolish to risk a motor without checking the temp gauge for correct operation for starters . After running for 10 minutes feel the top radiator hose and if it is not hot to the touch but the gauge shows hot then you have a cooling system problem that would be checked by a radiator shop.. It may just need pressure bleeding to get the air out of the system

2004 chevy aveo when i turn ac on it runs hot and when i turn ac off it cools down

The AC puts allot of heat load on the engine so of course it will run hotter but not overheat the engine, if that happens you may have a clogged radiator.

Car is running hot and I put a new thermostat in and water bump

make sure the radiator cooling fans are coming on. GM has also had major problems with the lower intake gaskets leaking on the V-6 engines. sometimes when refilling the cooling systems air lock can occur. run the engine until it warms up and then turn off and let it cool down, if coolant level goes down repeat this process two or three times. other causes could be clogged radiator, or worse case scenario blown head gaskets. also i have on occasion got bad thermostats from the parts store. the upper radiator hose will get very hot when the thermostat opens. run the engine and hold the upper hose and when the t-stat opens the hose will get hot. then when the cooling fan comes on hot air will rush from from the fans. if the fans come on and the air is cool then there is a circulation problem. t-stat, clogged radiator, low coolant, head gaskets. good luck.

Car running hot i flushed cooling system and put in a new thermasate

If you flushed the cooling system, you probably got air in the coolant lines. It takes a while to remove it. This is done by running the car in park at 1500-2000 rpm with the heater on max and the fan on max. when the heater blows hot air you are almost done, if it doesnt, shut the car off as soon as the temp gauge is half way! Let it cool down and repeat.

My a4 overheats really fast. While the radiator is cool

The problem may be air locked in the engine causing the thermostat not to open. You may need to bleed the water line some were near the termostat or if it doesn't have one you can run the car without the radiator cap on it for about 3 mins but make sure you are not running hot.then put the cap back on with the heater on blast when the air starts getting hot the termostat has open. If air dosen't get hot then try to do steps again ontil air is hot and temp is about normal. Hope this info helps

Car runs real hot

Make sure to use OEM parts and drain the air out of the cooling system. The 3.5 especially is very touchy regarding OEM and aftermarket waterpumps and thermostats for whatever reason. Simple solution to bleed out the air is to drive the car 5-10 mins without the pressure-cap.
