Replace front right wheel bearing


This is a hub and bearing assy. You will need to remove the axle nut, brake rotor, caliper assy. There are 3 or 4 bolts that attach the hub assy to the knuckle assy. Most of the time, the hub assy will come out easy and sometime it comes out very hard. Make sure you torque the axle nut to the proper spec, so the bering will not fall apart and will last. Buy a quality hub and bearing assy, so you dont have to do it again.

How to remove routers for a for bronco 85 302 full sized


Removing rotors.

1. Jack up, put on jack stands and remove tire (obviously)
2. Remove caliper
3. Remove bolts holding locking hub body to hub
4. Remove snap ring from end of axle, Remove hub retainer ring from ID of wheel hub. Use a small screwdriver or pick to start it out of the groove. Remove the hub body
5. Remove the outer bearing lock nut, lock washer and the inner adjusting nut
You need the special socket for this OTC #7158 or similar
6. Remove the outer bearing and then the hub
7. To separate the rotor from the hub, use a soft faced hammer to drive the studs out
8. Turn the hub over and set the new rotor in place. Put the studs back in.
9. I will usually use an air hammer to drive the studs back in. Alternating in a circular pattern. If you don't have access, you can use a large diameter punch or another hammer on the back of the studs.
10. Now would be a good time to repack the bearings and replace the wheel seals. Pull the spindles and check the bearings and seals in the back of them. If they are not rusted, slab some grease on them and put back together.
11. Install the hub and rotor assy, and the outer bearing and bearing adjustment nut.

How do i change the driver side front hub assembly


The vehicle will need to raised on the left (drivers) side and supported. Remove the tire, then the brake caliper assy. Remove the rotor, then remove the axle nut located in the center of the hub assy. Remove the hub/bearing retaining bolts, and then the hub assy. Some times it is corroded into the steering knuckle assy. and will not seem to come out. If this happens, install the axle nut, and wearing safety glasses, pound onto the hub flange from the inside to the outside, until it comes out of the knuckle assy. Then remove the hub assy. Clean the knuckle hole where the bearing with 120 grit sand paper, so the hub/bearing assy will go into the knuckle without damage. Torque the axle nut to specs. Clean the inside of the rotor, where the hub meets it, so it sits flat against the new hub. Install the rotor, caliper assy. Install the wheel and torque the lug nuts to 100 ft pounds. Road test about 5 miles and recheck the lug nuts.

Try this;
  1. Remove the tire assy.
  2. Remove the cotter pin inside the nut holding the wheel hub assy.
  3. Remove the nut holding the wheel hub assy.
  4. Remove the wheel hub assy. & if there is circlips {Retaining} holding the bearings snap them by small slotted screwdriver.
  5. Install the bearings in the wheel hub assy.
Reverse the Removal process to Install the removed parts.

Rear Wheel Bearing Repair; 2005 pontiac aztek


Remove the brake caliper
Remove the disc, (rotor)
Remove the 34mm nut on the axel shaft
Remove the three (3) bolts from the back side
You will need a wheel puller (three jaw will work well)
Place the puller over the hub and tighten, this will push the shaft out of the hub. Now you have to pull the hub assy. out of the mounting bracket. I found hitting each side,of the hub with a lead hammer to work well. Don't forget to disconnect the ABS senser on the back side of the hub assy.
Do not over tighten the 34mm axel nut when you install the new assy. If you use an impact whrench on it you will damage the bearing.

I just tried to replace the front rotors on my 1996 nissian pathfinder, but couldn't figure out how to remove the wheel bearing (or is it the hub?). What do I have to do get the rotor off?


- disconnect ABS sensor and move away to protect from damage
- remove brake caliper assy.
- remove hub cap
- remove snap ring w/tool
- remove lock washer
- remove wheel bearing lock nut (tool J36001)
- pull off wheel hub & wheel bearing (do not drop it!)
- rotor is attached to hub.

Replacing A wheel bearing


hi from the uk seriously the best advice i will give you having done these is remove wheel then with foot brake applied? remove the drive shaft securing nut(cv joint ) tap the joint back ? then remove b/caliper assy then diconnect track rod steering end then remove the bolt and nut that secures the lower ball swivel joint (you may find this stiff but percevier try a lever bar and press suspension lower arm down ) then two bolts and nuts secure hub assy to strut ? remove these and you can pull complete assy off drive cv shaft now you are best to take the hub assy complete with rotor/disc to a local engineer shop or garage that has a press or bearing puller hydraulic press is best option ? and ask if they could remove the old bearing and fit new for a small fee ? believe me these bearings can be a cow and if you want a quick turnround? this is best way rather than potential damage by trying to hammer bearing races out ? just a little more advice clean up/wash off assy before you take it to shop it will be more helpfull to mechanic to work on be sure you renew the cv hub nut and re torque after reassembly hope these instructions help you ? best wishes

Remove wheel, brake cliper, cliper mounting bracket, brake pads and rotor.
Remove tie rod end and strut from spindle,
Remove large drive axle nut from center of hub by removing cotter pin and nut cover
Remove the ball joints 2 nuts and 1 bolt
Pull assy. lose from drive axle.
Take complete Hub assy with new bearing to an automotive machine shop and have them disassemble hub and replace bearing.
Reverse steps to reinstall
