Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Alero

1 Answer

2000 Oldsmobile Alero - I am looking for the fuel filter, after searching multiple sites on-line and finding several location, none of them were correct. I have found them on cars before and replaced the part so I am familiar with the common locations. The underside of the car is mostly solid and its not in front of the tank or on the frame on the driver side. Can the filter be covered by a shield? thanks, Noah

It is right at the back of the fuel tank right up tight to the floor between the fuel tank and the trailing axle ... they are not fun to replace.

My 2000 Oldsmobile Alero does not start. It cranks fine, has a new battery, new spark plugs, and I can hear the fuel pump working. I was thinking of checking the fuel filter next. Much help needed

check for a good spark first, if there is none look at ignition circuits its more likley this part,
it could also be the car alarm the immobiliser shutting of the ignition ""stops it getting nicked?"
try resetting the alarm if you take off pipe to carb and there is fule pumping out!!! fule filter is "ok" for starting up on!!! take care working with fule!

How do I change the fuel filter for my 2000 Olds Alero and is this something that can easily be done. Also, if I can do this myself, where is the fuel filter located.

The fuel filter is usually located under one of the back doors on the underside of the car. Most vehicles require special tools to remove the fuel lines from the filter. Some cars merely use plastic clips to secure the lines. Make sure the pressure has been relieved from the fuel lines prior to removing the lines from the filter
