The cam sensor is the most likely problem here, the cam sensor has to signal initial start up,then th crankshaft sensor takes over, when you spray the fluid in the intake, and it starts, you are actually doing the cam sensors job by simulating the pulse for the injectors, replace the cam sensor to correct the problem.

Sounds like the brushes in the starter are not making contact, could be sticking or gummed up. Could also be the key switch or the neutral safety switch.
You would need to rig up a wire going down to the purple wire on the starter and check it for power when the engine will not crank. If it has power odds are the starter is the problem.

1996 GMC JIMMY, Hard starting after it has ran for awhile

could have a battery ground , check cables for corrosion.
could also be the starter or the solenoid.
you could also have a dead short in the battery itself, it will be ok if it sits but will give you fits for repeated starts

Hi!

I still think its a bad starter because when they go bad sometimes, You still hear the starter running but it doenst do anything. Because the starter runs one way and lock the other and when the Bendix goes bad that's the symptoms it keep just running. here is what you can do. Take the starter out and see if the little gear on it only turns one way, If it turn both way then you starter is bad. Good luck bro

My gmc jimmy has been taking a while to start and

check to see if the starter clicks when you try it...you could go on the starter and cross the two posts and see if it trys to start. if it does not even do any thing than your starter is bad... i would think that your starter is probably out now cuz you have had to crank it over so much to get it running,.. and as far as it not starting i would change the plugs wires cap and rotor.

Starter or ingition switch problem. Let me guess, you live in a cold region? If yes, then I'm betting money on the starter. The cold does a number on starters. The colder it gets the more likely they go out. Lol, happened to my friends truck Tuesday and mine this morning. That's what we get for living in -10 degree weather right?

AOD trans wont shift when cold

Ok I have no Idea who told you not to change the fluid? However there is a reason you have to drop the pan to drain it, or change filter and the reason for this is. So you cant just change fuild and leave dirty filter in, or change filter and leave dirty oil in. Your wouldnt just change one or another on your motor would you? lol Anywho your problem is either burnt fuild. Yes the fuild can be come burnt and lose it vascoity, and weight. (basicly your runing gravey through it.) lol Or the fuild is termendously dirty strained or not. FYI there are clutches in your transmission.... Have you ever heard of clutch dust? Well in an automatic because of the fuild its not clutch mud..... explaining why when its cold and the oil is super thick it has problems, but when it thins up when its warm its fine.

91 jimmy starts cold, runs rough hot, dies when put in drive

Try to unplug the mass airflow sensor and start it. It will idle higher but should run fine. If it works then you need a MAF sensor. Be sure you have an OBDII code puller to clear the computer when done
