91 sonoma wont turn over just wines

A whinning noise is usually from the starter spinning but not engaging with the flywheel.
The solenoid or bendix gear may not be working which would require a replacement starter.
If you heard a grinding noise, I would say some teeth are missing from the flywheel.

I have a 91 honda accord with an automatic trans. & when i shift into reverse it refuses to engage & makes a high pitch gear slipping grinding sound ! NOT GOOD ! ,I just replaced the transmission con

Definitely not good. The transmission is slipping internally due to worn gears and clutch packs. It will have to come out for rebuilding, IMO. Have a transmission shop check it out.
Good luck.

91 mazda protege, grinding lower gears?

More than likely the synchronizers are going out, they allow you to move from gear to gear without damaging transmission.

I have a 2001 gmc sonoma. when i put my truck in to 4hi or 4 lo and go forward a griding sound comes and it doesnt engage but when i put it in reverse it grinds a little then engages what could it be

Sounds like the shifter needs adjusted or it's just plain worn out. It's not going all the way into gear. See if you can disconnect the shifter and click the transfer case into gear by hand. This will tell you if the problem is in the shifter or internal to the transfer case.

Transmision shifting problem

Reverse is not sycronized, this means the gears have to stop to mess and not grind, two thing cause this, being to quick to slam into reverse after clutch is depressed, a problem with the clutch.
