Heat stops working and engine overheats

When your Pathfinder overheated you now have a blown engine head & gasket. When it overheats you run into costly problems that make your vehicle only worth scrape. You do know that using your a/c or heater puts strain on engine and could have leak at freeze plug or plugs and slowly leaking water from radiator or water backing into overflow that has it boiling with steam coming out.

Car is over heating. antifreeze leaks out the top of the reserve.

can be caused by many things.
does it leak (overheat) all the time.
does it do it at first start, parked, idling, for 5mi, or 30min.?
or only after engine warmup ,then i drive and only at stop signs
does it overheat moving fast , steady 45mph speed?
there are many tests, all are easy.
first off , it can be bad RAD,thermostat, lost coolant (ignored service) bad water pump, bad RAD CAP.(replace if bad)
or cracked engine bock, cracked head, bad head to block gasket.
to name a few.
if it only fails at stops signs look for RAD tube blockage
i use an IR pyro gun to find these.
there are 3 more tests, ask.

Car keeps overheating

Assuming the engine is ok, no leaking head gasket or exhaust problem, you need to know if the radiator fan comes on when the engine reaches 225 degrees. It should also come on when you turn the ac on if the ac works.
Its also possible you have air in the cooling system.

Jeep Liberty 2005 3.7 engine running hot, need to install thermostat? fan working, full of water , water tank cap fits good.

A new thermostat would be the easiest and cheapest to do first. There is also the water pump but that normally would cause a complete overheat, probably after about 20-30 miles, water boiling out the overflow.Good luck! Greg

88 Nissan Pathfinder heard a loud popping noise under the front suspension of the car while driving and then a winding down noise as i slowed down

It could be a blown seal or some messed up bearings on the hub. Take it to a mechanic and DRIVE CAREFULLY! The wheel could literally come off it the bearings aren't working and overheat!
