I had trouble with mine shifting from park into gear, and the dealer ended up replacing the entire shifting lever after ruling out a problem with the brake switch which controls when you can shift out of park (brake has to be engaged). hope this helps

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer and my truck won't shift into park I litterally have to hold the brake all the way down forit toshift

I think this is a safety feature built in to the car. I've had several cars that won't shift unless the brake is pressed.

My ford explorer starts fine but will not shift out of park

sounds like your shift interlock has malfuctioned....press the brake and listen for a clicking noise at the base of the shifter if no click is heard...its solenoid has failed...if it does click...try taping breaks several times while trying to shift it out of park...

2001 ford expedition stuck in park the gear shift would not come out of park

brake-sahift interlock solenoid not working. check fuse first. when key is on and brake is pressed, it either activates or deactivates the solenoid so you can shift out of park. safety thing.
chrck owner manual for a mechanical overide process. maybe there is one.

The gear shift is stuck in park. The wheel moves

Make sure you have brake lamps. The shift interlock solenoid is powered by the brake lamp switch.
