Question about Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

Chrysler Sebring 04 2.7 l. I need to have the diagram for the timing chain with the timing marks. I have replaced the water pump, but failed to check alignments. I aligned the crankshaft mark with the arrow mark accordingly, but the marks on the right and left camshafts, how does it have to be aligned?I see a dot on the right cam which is 25 degrees below a straight line towards the left and an arrow on the left one is also about 25 degrees below a straight line towards the left and the same is the crankshaft matching line with arrow about 25 degrees towards tthe left. Is this o.k. Or do I have to reset the camshafts?

Rotate the crankshaft until the Top Dead Center (TDC) mark on the oil pump housing aligns with the TDC mark on the crankshaft sprocket.
Install an Allen wrench into the tensioner. Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise while pushing on the wrench until it slides into the locking hole.

Remove the timing belt.

This diagram does not look the 2.7 L Chrysler serbring to me. I had the crankshaft aligned, now I need to know the alignment of both of the cams. I notice a dot on the left one and an arrow on the right one, does that mean they have to face each other.

I just put a timimg chain an water pump in a 2001 chrysler sebring 2.7 liter engine an it will back firer at start up an not run .no matter how many times i check timing marks everytime it seems to no

I just recently experienced the same problem. The timing is 180 degrees out. Unfortunately the only way to correct it is to take the engine apart again. Set the right hand camshaft to TDC by using the marks on the timing gear for that bank. The left will follow to the degree it can although you will have to manually hold the cam in position when you put the timing gear back on. Now you can remove the timing chain. The crank TDC indicator may not be right on but it will be close. Rotate the crank CW one revolution to the point the TDC marks are lined up. Now install the timing chain according to the instructions. The timing gears on the camshafts will only go on one way as the bolt holes are slightly off the extreme diameter of the gear. If you put the chain back on making sure that all the marks are proper, she'll fire on the second cylinder up. Not a fun job I know, but when everything works right, you do get a sense of satisfaction.

Replace water pump on 2001 chrysler sebring

if you have the 2.4 engine, the water pump is external and driven by the timing belt.you need a water pump - timing belt component kit. the 2.7 has a internal water pump driven by the timing chain. here again you should install a water pump- timing kit. 2.7 is more complex and expensive to change

Hi,

This is called the water pump weep passage which is a sign that your seal in the water pump has failed.

You need to replace the water pump.

How do I replace the water pump on a 2003 Chrysler Sebring Convertible with 2.7 liter engine?

Dont try this at home. Get a shop to replace it and check the timing chain components. If its not done right, bent valves wil be your New Years present. I recommend this. http://www.fix27engine.com/
