Question about 1991 Honda Accord

1 Answer

1991 honda ACCORD WONT REV PAST 3500 RPM NO MATTER IF YOUR IN PARK OR DRIVE OR NEUTRAL BUT IF YOU SHUT IF OFF AND ON AGAIN IT RUNS FINE, i CHANGED FUEL FILTER, PLUGS AND AIR FILTER, AND i'M JUST CONFUSED ON HOW IF CAN RUN JUST FINE ONE SECOND AND HORRIBLE THE NEXT ALL DAY LONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN. MY CHECK INGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR YEARS AND IF IT TURNS OFF MY CAR RUNS CRAPPY, BESIDES THAT THIS 294000 MILE HONDA RUNS GREAT! ALSO NOTE FOR SOME REASON IT'S HARDER TO START NOW TOO. TAKES MORE REV TO START THEN IT RUNS BAD IF IT STARTS GOOD RUNS GOOD. IT'S REALLY WEIRD..

The ignition control module may be going bad. call your local honda dealer with your vin # they had a recall on the control module for 91-93. they will tell you if yours was replaced already if not you can pick one up for $60 at autoparts store and it is located inside distributor

Daewoo leganza wont rev past 2800 rpm idles fine just wont rev past 2800 ?

In park, this could be normal. ECU does this. around 2800 to 3500 RPMs. If driving, have the codes read. No codes , could be a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump(have the pressure checked), or clogged catalytic converter/s. With no codes, something is restricted..

Cutting out at 3500 rpm

Check if the air filter is clogged with oil and dirt. Check the timing, then check that the cam belt has not slipped. Could be plug wires, but this will usually cause rough running as well. Could be low fuel pressure.

My honda 2003 jerks when i change gear from to Reverse or Drive. Also, when on Neutral or Park, the revs/s is about 2. i dont know if that's normal. thanks

The revs should be around 700- 900 rpm while in neutral. Revs about 2 (2000 rpm) is absolutely abnormal, and of course the vehicle will **** with any gear change. Furthermore, continued operation of the car in this condition will damage the transmission. Seems like the idle sensor, MAP sensor or other part is working incorrectly. Take vehicle to a shop for a scan of the computer and repair, in order to save the VERY costly transmission.

Ticking in motor, then stops for about a month, then starts ticking again. oil changed. in nuetral it wont rev past 3500 rpm

It wont rev past 3500 in driving?
The governer on these is set to NOT allow a higher rev when car is stopped and not in gear.
Try to change oil viscosity or filter manufacturer. Some filter manufactures put in a bypass valve that kicks in too early.

Reduced power below 4000 RPM

The main relay also controls the transmission and will cause an intermittent interruption of power and indicates its going bad. about a $60.00 replacement cost. the relay is located under left side of dash.
