Either your lambda probe(o2 sensor) is faulty,or your cat has died.
change the sensor first,its cheaper.....

What does the p0714 code mean

O2 sensors regulate the fuel mixture, they are primarily an emissions device. There might be as many as four of them on a car.If the check engine light is out you're all good ,stop worrying.cheers

Engine light came on while what could be the problem

Not something that can actually be guessed at but i'll give it a shot. If the vehicle is running fine it's an evap or o2 code. Which means you need to either tighten your gas cap or replace it for the evap code. Th o2 one means the o2 sensors need to be replaced.

The better option is to take the vehcile and have a scanner hooked up to it to determine what is actually going on.

Can fueling a car while it's running cause an O2 sensor to go bad? Check engine light came on about 3-4 miles after my wife fueled the car while it was running. The code,"P0430" (Catalyst...

Your probably looking at a coincidence. The Catalytic converter inefficiency code is rarely a bad O2 sensor. The downstream O2 sensors monitor the performance of the cat. If the O2 sensor starts to switch similar to the upstream O2 than the PCM see's that as the catalytic converter not doing its job.

Since you didn't list an engine size I assume you have a v-6 or v-8 since there can't be a bank 2 on a four cylinder engine. The fact that only one bank is bad further supports that it wasn't the fuel or refueling that caused the light to come on.

Check engine light is on. Code is showing P0420. What does this mean?

This code means the downstrean (behind) O2 sensor determines a reduced level of effectiveness in the cat. converter-it may not be 'lighting off' (600+ degrees) to burn any hydrocarbons left over from the combustion process. I can be that the cat is bad, or there is an exhaust leak before the cat, or the sensor itself is bad. You can do a visual inspection to determine if there is a leak, and use a scanner to see if the O2 sensor is working properly. It should read a fairly steady voltage and not switch nearly as fast as the upstream O2 sensor. The downstream O2 sensors only purpose is to monitor the cat-you might try clearing the Check Engine Light first to see if it comes back. Then you should consider contacting your dealer since you may be covered under an extended warranty that they have to put on emission devices.

Check engin light on. There are four error codes P0137,P0141,P0342, and P1792. How do I fix it. Will I pass inspection with these codes?

P0137 Error code Faulty O2 sensor Exhaust leak near the rear sensor
  • Plugged catalyst
  • Short to voltage on O2 signal circuit
  • High resistance or open on O2 signal circuit
Possible Solutions
  • Replace faulty sensor
  • Repair exhaust leak near the rear sensor
  • Check for restriction in catalyst and replace as necessary
  • Repair short, open, or high resistance on o2 signal circuit
P0141 Error code means Downstr Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater circuit fault - Bank No. 1.

- replacement is needed for this issue.

P0342 Error code means Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Low Input

P1792 Error code means P1792 means the computer isnt properly programmed so if this code keeps comming back the pcm may need to be replaced

I installed new o2 senser and the light stays on -1992 trooper

Do you mean that the check engine light stays on after you installed a new O2 sensor?

Check for codes, again, and go from there.

Service Engine soon light on - diagnostic code says o2 sensor. What is an O2 sensor and is it hard to replace

You'll need to give us the specific code, in the format P0xxx. Just saying "O2 sensor" doesn't mean anything. It could be the heater circuit, fuse, o2 sensor itself, etc. Changing an O2 sensor isn't too hard but you may not need to replace it/them.

Please report back with the code or look it up at http://www.check-engine-light.com
