Question about 2001 Ford Focus

We are trying to remove the front tire to replace the brake rotors, but the tire won't come off. We've done the obvious and removed the lugnuts. It appears that the rim and the rotors are fused together?

Try using a hammer and bang on the lugnuts(put them back on not tight)also spray wd-40 and let it soak becareful wear eye protection.

Front rotor will not tighten down


Nothing. The rotor is held on by being sandwiched between the wheel and the hub. You slide it (the brake rotor) over the studs and mount the caliper over the rotor. Then fasten the caliper to its attach points. When you mount the tire/wheel and tighten the lugnuts this prevents the rotor from coming off. Get yourself to the local library, and checkout the automotive repair manual for your make and model of car. Run through the steps for removing/replacing the brake rotor. Verify you did all the steps correctly!! Good luck.

Front tire won't come off


Sit on your but and kick the tire with both feet. The tire is stuck. Some tire repairmen use a large sludge hammer and hit the tire,don't hit the rim.

Need to romove and replace sheared lugbolt on rear driver side wheel hub


remove tire...if it has disc brakes remove caliper/pads and rotor...if it has a drum break remove drum..Now take a punch and hammer and hit the center of the lugnut stud untill it pops out the back.put the new one in and get it tight with the lugnut.Replace brakes and tire and tighten that lugnut until it stops.Then check it in 500 miles

I want to change my brakes and rotors in my subaru how do i do this?


jack up & remove tire, then remove brake assembly(should be 2 bolts on the back side of assembly holding it on), rotors should slide right off (if they don't, spray a little lubricant on it), next: slide new rotor on, then( pay close attention to how the brake disks are on),(remove & replace each disk one at a time.((( you'll need to use a c-clamp to push thye caliper all the way back))) THEN bolt the brake assembly back on(rotor should be between the new disks when you start tightening the bolts) Put the tire on & tighten the lugnuts.. And your done!!!

How to remove the rotor on a navigator?


front or rear brake rotor? b sure to shut off the air ride system! the switch is located in the rear kick panel! lift and support front remove tires !the caliper has two mounting bolts remove those and hang caliper to the side using a metal coat hanger! now look at the bracket that was connected to the caliper remove those two bolts !the rotor should come off

Changing the rear disk brakes on a 06 toyota sienna, what is the process?


-Set up jack and properly block front tires.

-Do not set parking break as this may hender removing the rear calipers. Open hood and remove the brake resevoir cap.

-Remove hubcaps if applicable,

-Loosen Lugnuts but do not remove,

-Jack up van,

-Remove tire.

-Caliper should be visible. There are two bolts or hex heads on the back side that can be a pain to remove sometimes.

-Pull the caliper off the rotor, It is recomended to have the rotors turned or replaced. With the old pad still in place, take a c clamp or brake caliper squeezer and compress the caliper

-remove old pad, take note for the reinstall of the new pad.

-reverse the steps. This is a simple break down. Hope it helps

How to replace front brake pads for 1991 Ford Taurus? Rotors probably need replacing as well. If I have no tools, is it cheaper to just have it done by a mechanic?


I guarantee you it would be cheaper to by tools and do it yourself. You don't need anything considered a "special" tool.

Remove the tire and tighten 2 lugnuts onto the brake rotor. remove the axle nut in center of the brake rotor and drive the axle out of the spindle. If the ball joint is original, you have to grind out the rivets on the lower control arm. Remove and replace the ball joint with the hardware included with the ball joint. Next, pry-unsnap the axle end from the transaxle with a prybay and drive-snap in the new axle shaft into the transaxle. reverse to assemle, align front end and wholla! your done. 1 hour,15 min. $115.00 to do it yourself.

REAR WHEEL BEARING/ HUB

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting in General Diagnosis.
  2. Remove the wheel and the tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
    1. Remove and support the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement (Front) or Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear) in Brakes.
    2. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
    3. Remove the ABS sensor wire connector.
    4. Remove the four bolts from the control arm.
    5. Remove the hub and bearing from the control arm.
    6. Remove the brake shield from the control arm.
    7. Clean the control arm face and the bore before installing the hub and the bearing.
    Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
    1. Install the brake shield and the hub and the bearing to the control arm with the four bolts. Be careful not to drop the hub and the bearing, as it could be damaged. Reconnect the ABS sensor. Tighten the hub and bearing bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
    2. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
    3. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement (Front) or Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear) in Disc Brakes.
    4. Install the wheel and the tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment. Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
    5. Lower the vehicle.
