The same amount that you have taken out. Including the filter contents, Only fill up to the bottom of the thread in the housing where the fill up nut is, start the vehicle, Apply handbrake and cycle through the gears to let the fluid work its way around the box, turn it all off and check the levels again.

My transmission fluid in my 06 Grand Prix gxp got to 220 is that bad

That's high, but not terribly so. Transmissions typically run about 180, but on my Silverado the trans temp gauge doesn't show red until 250. Smell the trans fluid, if it doesn't smell burned, it should be ok. If unsure, change the fluid. I don't recommend a power flush, just drain the pan, change filter, measure what was in the pan, add that amount of new fluid and of course, correct why it got that hot in the first place.

Transmission fluid

You change transmission fluid every 3 years

While 90k is only 54,000 miles, ten years is how
old my lincoln is & I changed mine 3 times & it should
have been 4 times

You go by years, not miles anymore

Time used is heat cycles & the fluid will only last
for 3 years including 2 hot summers ,then it won't
remove heat & you trans clutches fail

You have to use the NEW Matic S from a nissan dealer,
as no other fluid is correct for your jatco trans at this point
in time

You add one ten oz bottle of red Lubegard to ALL your vehicles
transmissions with every change

You DO NOT FLUSH a trans as the fine debrib could get
into the solenoids

You have to add a return line filter at the cooler in front of the radiator, because your trans has NO Filter, only a screen bolted to the valve body

Same trans as my 3 week old 2014 Frontier

What you read was IF it was slipping & you change the fluid
it will slip worse,in that case the damage was done already

Ten years is a death sentence to any trans
Change it anyway, not many miles on it

Don't change it if you got shifting problems you don't want
to discuss here & that is why your here

You remove the pan on the bottom of the trans
Wipe it out, clean the magnet & you should have a
fill tube & stick next to the motor to add the MATIC S
Fluid

The return line filter will be your ONLY protection for that
Nissan trans, as a screen is not going to stop anything micro
scopic particles ,nor will a regular filter on most transmissions

You get a Filtran Magnetic Return Line Filter & install
that on the line that goes from the surface to air cooler to the
trans case

The other line you can see goes to the radiator first, then to the
out front cooler, that is the hot oil pressure feed, your putting
you little round filter in the other return line

You can put one of them on the power steering also or change
a steering rack when it fails
Have to do that or new racks are not warranteed

A few months ago I changed the trans mission fluid and filter truck worked good. Three weeks ago I changed the fuel pump and egr valve, today I was driving down the road and the truck went out of gear, I...

Are you certain you didn't over fill ? There is a difference in quantity of fluid needed on a filter /fluid change and a complete flush of system including the converter . Some will give you a total amount of fluid needed axed on a complete system flush including converter and if you add that amount to your trans and all you did was drain the pan and replace the filter and replaced the pan then filled to the prior mentioned amount you will be drastically over filled. That will cause as many if not more problems as being low or empty on fluid.

Need 2 trans coolers?

It is not really needed to add to the existing but isn't going to hurt a thing. Changing the fluid should be done every 60,000 miles or per your manuals guidelines.

How much trans fluid needed after filter change on 1997 dodge caravan

My 1997 Caravan manual states that the trans fluid capacity is 8.5 quarts. However, in the transmission oil change section, it says to drop the pan, drain the oil, replace the filter and add 4 quarts of new fluid. This tells me that the torque converter is not draining so you are in fact, only changing "half" of the transmission fluid.

Tranny shifting hard in and out of gears

This transmission is electronicly shifted by the computer (transmission control module) First thing i'd recomend is changing the trans. fluid & filter ( depending on what engine you have the trans may not have a serviceable filter ) Change the fluid and add 1 bottle of LUCAS trans.treatment = 1 QT.

Need to change the transmission filter in '99 chevy suburban 2wd.

If it has over 100,000 miles or so, don't do a complete fluid exchange. Drop the pan, change the filter, and add 2 bottles of Lucas trans. additive. No premises but it's better than a new trans. Worth a try.

How can I add trans fluid to my 99 caravan? I cannot locate it

If u know u need to add trans fluid, I assume u found the dipstick to check the fluid level? If so, that's where u add the fluid, w/ engine running and using a funnel, slowly add it. Shift thru the gears slowly several times, and check level again. Don't overfill, it's bad for the tranny.
