Manual transmission

The short answer, yes. M46 models with the type J or P overdrive (depending on year and market) require a certain level of oil in the overdrive. Additionally, the overdrive is a lot like a standard automatic transmission with one gear range in theory of operation. Therefore, the hydraulic properties of said transmission do come into play here, line pressure, shifting pressure, accumulator and piston function all work together to engage or disengage the unit. Always ensure the unit is disengaged before downshifting and of course, shifting into low reverse.

I have a 93 mighty max just replace the clutch throwout bearing and pressure plate --now the problem is i can not get the clutch to engage enough to shift gears-- i have taken everthing back off to...

Do you mean you can't get the clutch to DISengage? You need the clutch to disengage - 'unlock' the transmission input shaft from the flywheel - in order to change gears.
If you put the transmission in 1st gear and start the engine and the truck starts moving with the pedal depressed, the clutch IS engaged. I think you mean that you can't get it to disengage so you can stop without killing the engine, and can change gears without a lot of grinding.
If this is the case, check to see that the clutch cable or linkage (if you have mechanical linkage) is properly adjusted, or that you hydraulic lines and slave cylinder are bled if you have a hydraulically controlled clutch.

Torque converter wont lockup

Most lockup converters are controlled by a wire or wires that plug into the transmission. It is possible on some models to simply disconnect this plug. This is not a problem and will only cause you to lose a little gas mileage. The RPM's will run slightly higher than before but will not harm anything or be an issue. ( the vehicle will tend to rev up and down as it engages and disengages, the convertor clutch will engage randomly in gears that it shouldnt even engage in usually, the clutch does not disengage. good-day ! ( tcc ) solinoid problem.

Just replaced the clutch and still wont engage or disengage

It can't both not engage and not disengage? If you can't put it in gear even with the engine shut off than there is something wrong with the transmission internally. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Car was driving fine I got off the freeway accelerated then the car disengaged and kept disengaging .would engage at low speeds then would not engage in any position reive the engine nothing would happen...

im assuming this is a manual transmission, if so you need to replace the clutch assembly. the clutch disk has worn too thin for the pressure plate to hold at higher rpms and soon wont hold at all.

1999 Accord Automatic Transmission issue

im so sorry to say that Honda has a bad transmission line in the 98-02 accord models.. there were severe recalls on this very matter..I only got rid of my 99 accord V6 because the shop who changed my motor mounts crushed my transmission line and blamed it on me..if you had motor mounts or timing done or serpentine belt(i forgot if it has both or just 1),then check to see if transmission line is crushed it can be seen right underneath the battery..
