Headlight switch turns on parking lights but not headlights. Have to hold high beam switch on to have headlights at night.

Replace light switch assembly. Remenber some switches pull up to flash headlights and press down to change from low to high--press down again goes from high to low.

Where is adjustment screw for headlights on 2008 impalla

Vic, the adjuster is either a allen key, torx, or #2 philips type bolt found close to the bolt that is holding headlight in place on inner fender rail/flange. I believe on the Impala the only adjustment is up and down of the light beam. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

1985 Fiero: headlights will not go back down...

Fiero headlights are headaches, especially the early years (84-86). Be glad they are stuck up and not down!

Does it make a grinding noise or anything while trying to go back down?

If so, the internal nylon gears are worn and need to be replaced with metal ones and good lithium grease.

If no noise while trying to go down, then it's a power problem. Check the blue connector going to the headlamp, careful in this area, they motors can turn on/off suddenly if the power is restored to them. Don't get your hand caught in there!

There are also relays to check, 1 for each motor and 1 main one for the headlamps, get a haynes manual to find them. They are little black boxes.

Also, could be your on/off headlight switch, take it out of the dash to see if wires are loose.

There are lots of forums online about these headlights and how to fix them. Look around and good luck!

My 89 240sx headlights pops up but wont go down..help!!!

There may be a switch on your dash that allows you to set the headlights to do exactly what you describe so they won't get trapped down by ice/snow in winter. Check to see that this switch is set so the headlights go down when you turn the lights off. If the switch is set correctly, check to make sure that the switch is not faulty.

High beam adjustment, how do you do it seams mine are reaching for the stars thaks john in wisconsin

two screws on each headlight control the direction the headlights are aimed. One screw, usually at the top but sometimes below the headlight, adjusts the headlight up and down. The other screw, located to one side, controls the headlight from right to left. Turning the appropriate screw one direction or the other will change the direction the headlight points.
In order to aim your headlights you need to have a flat vertical surface you can aim your headlights at in front of a level surface on which to park the car. If your driveway is level your garage door is the perfect place to aim your headlights.
The tools you will need for this job are simple. Masking tape is used to mark where the headlights are to be aimed and a screwdriver is needed to adjust the headlights. A tape measure will be necessary to measure the distance of the vehicle to the surface you're using to check the aim and to measure the up and down distances from your marks.
To start you will want to pull your car quite close to the surface you are using to aim your headlights. This is done to allow you to mark, with the masking tape, where the headlights are on the car. With the car right up against the vertical surface, and your low beam headlights on, the center of the beams will be directly in front of the headlights. Use your masking tape to mark straight across where the headlights are shining. Use short pieces of masking tape to mark vertically the center of the low beams.
, back your car about 25 feet away to check the alignment of the headlights. The brightest spot on your low beams should be about two inches below the masking tape and slightly to the right of the vertical marks. Use the adjustment screws to move the beams up and down, and right and left, until the headlights are aimed properly.
If your car only has two headlights, that's all you need to do. With the high beam lights integrated into the single headlight there is no further adjustment possible. If you have a four-headlight system you will next need to adjust your high beams. Switch to your high beams and adjust them so they shine just below the line and are centered between your two vertical marks.

good luck

Headlights dim signifigantly when power windows roll up or down

This should never happen if everything is normal. It sounds like your alternator is bad also have your battery tested. These parts are about six years old and that is when they usually fail. Check your fan belt is tight and not falling apart.

Headlights don't work.

There is a circuit breaker inside the headlight switch body. It gets weak over time and use. The breaker is actually mentioned in the owners manual. A new switch is about $75.00 at the local parts store. You must remove the front of the dash to change the switch. Mine would go off and then in about 30 seconds reset and the lights would come back on. I would be driving down the road with my headlights flashing as the circuit breaker opened and closed. New switch = problem fixed.
