Under the hood at the back of the head lights you can twist and unplug the bulb or they will do it at the part store for you most the time

SOURCE: How do I replace a lowbeam headlight bulb on a 2008 GMC Acadia

You will have to go through your mud guards. Remove your tire, and look inside your wheel well, you will see two part mud guard, front half and back half. Just remove the 7 screws from the front half, 5 on the wheel well itself, and two on the bottom, retaining screw to the bumper, now depending on which side you're looking at anywhere from 5-7 plastic pop-its. Use a flat tip screw driver to loosen the pins up, then remove the pop-it studs. There are two on the bottom front that connect to the vehicle frame. Once this is removed, you can access your headlight assemby to replace both bulbs. Note, you will have to do this to replace your fog light bulb should it go out as well.

Remove the 5 screws in the wheel well and pull it down enough to get your hands in to the light housing. Should take longer to remove the screws than replace bulb. NICE ENGINEERING GMC.

2009 GMC Acadia; why does honking my horn make the headlight come back on?

I am assuming the light is in close proximity to the horn and the light has a poor wiring connection either feed or ground. check for loose or corroded connection. The vibration from the horn has "jiggled" the connection.

Replace headlight, what is the bulb number, and tools required, also what needs to be done to get to the light.

If you go to the local parts store like advanced auto they can tell you which bulb you need. They usually install from the rear and do not require special tools. Lee

Open the hood and look in the area behind the headlight itself. You will see the wires running in to the light through a collar. Turn the collar counter clockwise and remove the assembly. Remove the bulb and plug in the new bulb and reverse the process to replace.
