    Operate the accessory belt tensioner with a wrench or socket, relieving tension on the accessory drive belt. Lift the belt off the pulleys.

    1 = tensioner / pulley for the alternator & A/C compressor

    Just loosen that 17mm bolt and tighten the tensioner by a little bit. Too much tightening will cause the harmonic balancer outer pulley to wear too fast, and it'll break off.

Alternator not charging the battery.. Do you know where the alter

You own a mini van. These creations were designed by engineers to drive mechanics crazy! :-( Everything is designed with little or no access. The alternator on your van is made of aluminum (so it's silver). It is located near the crankshaft harmonic balancer. If you look at the harmonic balancer, the alternator will be at the 10 o'clock position. It is on the passenger side of the engine, behind the engine block. One of the fan belts goes to it. The pulley on the alternator has a belt on it. Follow the fan belt which goes towards the rear of the engine.
Charlie
PS You may have to get under the van to remove it.
