My gas guage quit working. Have been told I need a new fuel level sensor, but was also told this is a common problem with 2001 buick century cars. True? Have there been any recalls for this? How much should I expect to pay for this repair?

The level sensor is in the fuel tank. If you replaced the pump, make sure the sensor wire is connected at the tank.

I had a Grand Prix one time (basically the same car) that had a problem with the fuel pump harness. This harness plugs into the top of the fuel pump as you know, and into the floorboard underneath the car. Check the floorboard end for corrosion or broken wires.

You have a faulty fuel sending unit or also called fuel level sensor. To fix this problem the fuel tank has to be droped down and the pump pulled out.Its not to hard to do but remember you are dealing with gasoline 1 spark and it will explode. If you're going to do it make sure you're in a well vented area.

Fuel guage fluculates on my 2001 buick century 4 door sedan 6 cyl.

this is a very common problem with this vehicle, they have redesigned the fuel level sensor for it. Unfortunately the sensor is located inside of the fuel tank attached to the fuel pump, you will have to remove the fuel pump from inside of the tank and replace the sensor which will require you to drain and remove the fuel tank first, or take it to a repair facility

Gas gauge quit working. Is there a fuse or sensor?

It sounds like your Fuel Level Sending Unit, usually located with the Fuel Pump inside the gas tank, has gone out. The Fuel Level Sending Unit sends the signal to your ECU, and then it goes to the Fuel Level gauge. Replace the Fuel Level Sending Unit and your gauge should be back to normal.

2001 Buick lesabre gas guage not working, heated seats not workin

I have a 2001 and just replaced the fuel pump assembly in the tank because the fuel gauge didn't work or worked irratic. After talking to the partsman it sounded like this was common. The contact for the sensor wears away and looses contact. You will see that the new fuel pump module has different type of metal wiper contact. As for the heated seats, I have an issue with driver side also and haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

Fuel gauge is stuck on full for a 2001 Buick

Gm cars are common for having defective fuel tank sending units in the tank. Yours likely needs replaced.
