When engine gets hot it acts as thougth it is starving for fuel and dies out,but restarts after it cools down. have already replaced fuel pump,no change.

I would change fuel filter first, but may be fuel pump??

Hook up a fuel gauge to the fuel rail and check the pressure with key on engine off.The fuel pressure should be 60-66 psi,if its not within specs replace fuel pump.

You indicate the fuel pump was replaced, but did you replace the fuel filter? A clogged filter can restrict fuel flow to the point the engine literally starves for fuel and smothers out.

Also would be a very good idea to check fuel pump pressure at the intake manifold. Also might want to check fuel pressure regulator.

Possible you could be having a fuel leak in the line which is evaporating, check out for smell in the underside, fuel pump and distribtution. Hope this will help,,,.

first thing to replace and cheapest would be the fuel filter ,if that doesn't fix the problem , it may be the fuel pump . GM fuel pumps are in the gas tank, and they have a built in thermo fuse . when fuel pumps get old 60000 miles or so..the motor in fuel pump starts running to hot and the thermo fuse kills the power till it cools down then it will run till it gets hot again note the cool down time keeps getting longer and longer

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.

Don't rule out fuel pump. Had a 95 do the same, ran great when cool in morning then when it got hot in afternoon, it would quit. Wait 15-20 minutes & go again, sometimes got me home, other times a few more miles until it cooled down again. Luckily I had access to a fuel pressure gauge. Cool in morning had 49 psi, when it quit, 2 psi. Wait 20 minutes, 49 psi again. If you can drive it around until it starts to act up then run into a repair shop for fuel pressure test it will confirm it. If not, they may need it all day to monitor the fuel pressure & confirm it is pump. If your a gambler, change it & fuel filter. One thing I did get was trouble codes indicating a lean mixture, due to starving for fuel. Have you cycled your key to retrieve any codes yet?

hmmm sounds like ignition module under distributor rotor button is opening up when it gets hot.after cool down will restart suggest you replace it , it's fairly inexpensive and they are very prone to heat related failure.

Have you tried replacing the pick-up coil?
