When I try to pass someone and press the gas to the floor the engine bogs down, the car actually slows down some. But if I lift the gas a little it will start to go. What would cause this?

Sounds like it's time for a fuel filter.

I have had the same problem with a 2000 Jimmy 170kms for about a year now. It has had air and fuel filters, plug, rotor and cap, wires, map sensor, acellerator positioner, mass air flow sensor, and the other solenoid on the throddle body replaced with no change in performance. Strangely though every so often the problem goes away and I can push the pedal to the floor with normal response. This can last a few days. Then back to problems. Still no cure.

I'd replace the fuel filter. It's easiest if you use a toggle joint adapter with your socket and ratchet.

Has it done this since new? The computer has a built in Rev limiter, its job is to prevent damaging the engine from high RPMs.

CAR BOGS DOWN COULD BE FAULTY TPS SENSOR, CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS AND CLOGGED FUEL FILTER, STOPPED UP AIR FILTER, FAULTY MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR.BEST BET IS TO HAVE CAR CODE SCAN MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE ENGINE BOG DOWN.HAVE VECHICLE CODE SCAN AND SEE IF YOU HAVE ANY FAULT CODES.MAKE CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.ENGINE NEED TRANSMISSION TO FOR TORQUE AND POWER TO PUT CAR IN MOTION IF TRANSMISSION NOT WORKING OKAY IT WILL PULL DOWN ENGINE POWER.

I own a 2002 Dodge Dakota 4x4 truck. As I am stepping on the gas pedal, the truck starts to slow down and makes a rough sound as though something is not receiving gas. The best way to describe the sound...

I would try 3 things
1. when was the fuel filter replaced last? I would replace it if you don't know when and you may have ran into some bad gas. Replace it.
2. Same with the air filter.
3. Add fuel injector cleaner.
Hope this helps.

I installed new intake monifold gaskets because the bottom one was sucking air in and my 1996 dodge intrepid 3.5 liter engine would run at 2300 RPM'S. After changing the gaskets the car is hard to start...

Take it to bits again and check the gasket you put on and all the other gaskets as it still sounds like you have air sucking and a blockage somewhere else so check out all parts you done and the parts you dident

When disconnecting an O2 sensor it could cause damage to the EGR system. Why was it disconnected in the first place?
