Question about Dodge Ram Pickup 1500

3 Answers

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500/Quad Cab, 5.7ltr. Hemi. My left rear brake light blows about once a month, just the left one, never had to replace the right. When I replace the bulb I am careful not to handle it with bare hand. Any ideas?

Replace the bulbs in PAIR.

An older bulbs in the circuit draw less current and the newly installed bulb take on the rest.

You Dodge RAM 1500 /Quad Cab use 3057 but for few cents more you should get 3057LL,LL=LONG LIFE.

Change both drive and passenger in pair with 3057LL and you are done!

Check the earth strap going to it (and the other wires for that matter) There could be a bare wire which touches the metal bodywork which blows the bulb.

If the earth wiring is loose or twisted, untangle it, replace if it is snapped and give the bodywork a rub with emery paper to ensure it gets a solid contact.

On your truck you might have to get under the rear elft quarter to follow the wiring a little way or remove ther inner wheel arch. I suspect the earth strap going direct to the light cluster is to blame.

Hope this helps :)

Did you actually try anything I suggested? Or did you just vote because you can;t be arsed and would prefer a more expensive option?

Here we go : Go to Dodge or BMW and say you brake lights are 'busted' they will charge you $100 just to look at it and then charge you $40 for a $1 part (which I originally told you about).

As far as I know. I didn't remove anything that looked like any insulating material when I replaced it the first time.

check with a dodge dealer and see if they have had anyother issues like yours, maybe theres an answer from the company then,or maybe an add-on to help prevent this recurring issue

Check/clean the MAP sensor and throttle position sensor. This should fix the issue. Its a common problem with Chrysler products.

Bad light bulbs are a good place to look...have you replaced any lately. Look for a bulb where the filiment may be broke and laying against the filiment below it. I would suspect the stop light bulbs first.

There is no standard interval for the CE/MIL light. You need to get the codes scanned at a local AP store to see what codes you have.
