Question about 1997 Nissan Maxima

Sometimes when you turn the key you get nothing. After a few trys sometimes a hard turn and the car starts 1997 Nissan Maxima Already replaced the starter in January.....

It could be your ignition switch needs replacing or maybe your starter is freezing up?

Sounds like either weak battery or a weak starter not turning it over quick enough. Check thoses areas first and then go to the ignition switch and check

When i turn key to crank, get click and on second try the car would start. That lasted for 2 weeks, now there are 3 clicks (3 trys) and car starts on 4th try. 2004 Nissan Maxima SE


Hi Kim,drive to Autozone and have them test battery and alternator,it's free,to test the starter,you will have to remove and take it to them to bench test.

Brand new battery in a 97 maxima but it still just "clicks" connections clean and tight? help please?


Tap on the starter as you try and start the engine,if it trys to start,then the starter needs to be replaced.

1995 nissan maxima won't start sometimes


Check the battery cables for corrosion by peeling back the insulation a few inches. Probably all green or white dust. replace the cables
