Why is gas spitting out the filler when attempting to fuel my 2003 kia sorento

Unfortunately it's a manufacturing or maybe design fault. They all do that. It's the way the filler pipe and it's breather pipe are shaped. After the tank gets to about 9 liters before being full, the fuel covers up the breather pipe, so the air pressure builds up in the tank, compressing the air, and blowing the fuel back out the filler. It used to take about 5 minutes to fill the last 9 or 10 liters. If you do it slowly, which is difficult due to the auto switch off of the bowsers, it can be done without getting fuel all over your feet. It's a small price to pay for an otherwise great car!

What is an EGR valve?

Hi. In basic terms it an emission reduction device on your car that puts a small amount of exhaust gas back into the engine. It lowers the engine temperature and reduces nitrous oxide which is one of harmful gasses produced by your car.

tech description is on this wiki link

Rear car driver side noise when there is gas in the tank and when pushing gas pedal

The problem you are discribing could well be the impending failure of the fuel pump I am assuming that this is a late model fuel injected car . The noise is transfered by the fuel in the tank . Have a tech check and make sure you have only a small amount of fuel in the tank when getting the pump replaced as the gas tank must be removed in order to replace the pump . Hope this is some help

'88 GMC C1500, whenever I'm below 1/5 a tank of gas and completely stopped, when I hit the accelerator it dies just before switching into 2nd gear. While coasting, I can go WOT and the engine starts...

hi.
if you are not having problems when there is more then1/5 tank in the car, you could well have a small hole in the fuel pick up pipe inside the fuel tank. when the fuel level gets below the hole, a small amount of air is sucket into the fuel line as well as fuel.

to repair this you would have to remove the tank, then remove the sender unit from the top of the tank, and replace the pipe, or possibly the complete sender unit.

if it is only a problem below 1/5 of a tank, then you have to ask yourself if it worth that amount of work at the minute, or if you just need to keep the fuel level above 1/5.

I just replaced my fuel tank in my 95tahoe now it will not start

check your fuel filter also crack one side of the line to the filter and turn the key on! to make sure the pump is actually pumping gas to the front ! if it is then you could have a fuel injector stuck!! take a small hammer and gently rap the top of the injectors till the spray fuel while cranking also check your injector fuses in the fuse panel to make sure you didnt blow one

Will not start after it stalls untill about 5-10 minutes

This sounds like a plugged evap valve. Try opening the gas cap when this happens. If the evap system is malfunctioning, it will use gas, but will not let air back in to replace the liquid leaving the tank thus collapsing the tank and cutting off fuel. It then takes a while to break the vacuum in the tank. If the car starts right away when you open the gas cap, have your evap system serviced by a professional. Another quick diagnosis is to take a look at the fuel tank. If it has been collapsed there will be small creases in it.

I just had this problem on a 97 Saturn.
