Question about 2000 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I have a Camry 2000, one brake light stopped working, found the fuse box, but how do I read the abbreviations to find the correct fuse to change? Some fuses are desribed with three letters and I don't know what they mean, don't have manual, got the car used.

You could get a test light !
you can use this to test all your fusses!
All the car fusses I have ever seen have a spot at each end where you can poke the tip of a test light in.
Test your fusses without removing them.
If you have power to one side but not the other the fuse is bad.
Wen you find one with no power at all try stepping on the brake peddle .
there might be several with no power unless you have the ignition and everything else turned on.

You might also try a new bulb in the one not working !

Should all be the same fuze. Check the bulbs and whether the harness to the rear lights that usually runs through the trunk hasn't been pulled.

How do i fix the brake lights on my mercury sable. all the other lights work fine

Does your car have the `lamp out'indicator system? It's more complicated.
My manual shows fuse #28 , a 15 amp fuse powers the brake bulbs. Is this the one you changed?
A bulb can be out for a long time and you don't notice it,then the other burns out and you think they both went out at the same time, but they might not have, see?
So check the bulbs and make sure you got that brake switch installed correctly. don-ohio (:^)

Need the map for fuse box on 2000 toyota camry , mine is missing on interio fuse box

That should not have a separate fuse, if the fuse is out so should your running lights. If your running lights are working, check the wires and or bulbs for your license plate lights.

1999 Toyotal Camry brake lights are out.

You have a ground issue.Current from another circuit is running through the lights to get to ground. this causes them to burn out quickly. You need to do a real detailed visual check.A good component wiring diagram and component locator is a requirement here.

1988 Toyota Camry LE brake lights are out

The brake light switch is located above the brake pedal. This is most likely the problem. Try this: remoev the connector from the switch, and jump across the termials with a paper clip. Do the brake lights now come on? If so, replace the switch. Changing the switch is not hard.

Tail lights out

There is another fuse box behind the change holder on the lower left side of the dash. When you open the change holder you will see two "Fingers" one on each side that hold the change box up. Gently squeeze these inward and rotate the change box out. You will find the missing fuses there!
