Going to the dealer is the best option to get spare key.It will be programmed and coded key and will work with the vehicle with out any problem. But the dealers charge near to $120 for this spare key. The other option is lock smith A locksmith can make a replacement key for an older car for a few dollars. If you've lost the original key, it will be a little more expensive because the lock may have to be dissembled to match a replacement key. When you have a smart key, it starts getting complicated. Some locksmiths have the equipment to program a replacement key, but may not be able to get the code for some makes of cars. In that case, you have to go to a dealer for a replacement key (you'll need to bring your title and vehicle identification number for this). For an electronic fob, it's likely a dealer will be your only option.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

What can I do if my key won't turn in the ignition switch of my 2004 jaguar s type?

if its the correct key for your car and its not working try a spare if you have one. check the condition of the teeth on the key it maybe worn out or bent. it could also be the key tumbler that is worn and needs replacing. does your key chain weigh a lot that is more than the weight of say just 4 keys if so this may have caused the tumblers to were out.

If the car goes "beep beep" when you try to lock the doors something is still open.
otherwise
Sounds like a defective keyfob try a new battery, try your spare if you have one.
If you don't have a spare you should get one anyway.
You can match your new keyfob to the car by following instructions here:= http://www.bluejag.co.uk/X-Type-keyfob-reprogramming.php

dsacco86 is Correct, The only way to get a New Key for your Jag is the Dealership. Also, I would go with the Dealer Installed Remote Start and/or Entry. There are a LOT of Brands and Models out there for this But, I have Noticed that for Some Reason the Jaguar's Do not respond very well to these Aftermarket Systems. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Keys locked in running car.

Use your spare key to open the trunk, pull the positive battery cable to kill the car, wait 5 minutes, re connect cable, try to open door again.
