Follow the upper radiator hose to where it enters the block. There is a flange that the hose connects to. The thermostat will be inside that housing.

    If you have the 4.7 L V-8 the thermostat is not where rah1964 said it is. That is where most are on other vehicles. The thermostat on these for some reason is actually located off of the LOWER radiator hose going into the block under the engine. This is the only vehicle I have seen this on and have no idea why they put it there. it makes it a pain too because you have to drain ALL of the coolant out of the radiator and engine before you open up the lower hose.

My 2005 ram 1500 4.7 has been running progressively hotter over the last couple of months. ive changed out the thermostat, fan clutch ,and waterpump and i still cant make it 30 miles to work without it...


Remove the radiator and have it stripped and rodded out then reassembled by a radiator repairers. They can be blocked badly internally and otherwise look ok.

the thermostat is located where the upper radator hose comes off the engine there are two bolts or nuts remove hose and remove housing you will see the thermostat when you do clean old gasket material off block and reverse removal procedure

The heater is blowing cold but the engine temperature reads high


Hi
I would first check to see if both heater hoses are hot to the heater.
if 1 is hot and 1 is cold the heater control valve is closed or the heater core is plugged.
