Hi, by quit do you mean it shuts off and does not come back on until you turn the a/c switch off and then back on, or does it quit and kick back on by itself? (cycling) Do you by any chance have a way to check the pressures you are running? If so check them with the engine running about 1500 RPM. Also take them at idle and send them to me with the temperature of the outside air. That little bit of information can tell me alot. If it doesn't come back on until you manually turn it off and on, that is in your electrical system and I recommend taking it to a reputable service shop, even, dare I say it , the dealer (shiver) for troubleshooting.
Take care

1989 Dodge Ramcharger Engine problems, maybe, now when you crank it in the morning it will only stay cranked for about 2 minutes and kills out, then maybe 15 mins later it will start and go down the road...

If you verify that you have fire, fuel and air to the engine and they are ok then I would check the catalytic converter and the muffler to ensure one of them is not plugged. If the cat gets blocked off then it won't allow fuel into the cyl due to back pressure on the engine.

Hello Vicky.
When I see this happen to those models it is usually a crankshaft position sensor that is getting hot and going open circuit.
When it cools it makes contact again and starts up.
While the issue may be something else like an ignition module the most common by far is the crank sensor.
An experienced technician with proper equipment should be able to determine the problem easily if he can get the car to quit.
I hope this helps your find your problem.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Replaced the compresssor 10 min down the road the

It sounds like the orifice tube is plugged up with metal shavings, or the expansion valve is stuck, depending of course on which one of them that your vehicles AC system is using.

That AC system should be properly cleaned and blown out, and then put into a high vacuum for a while before you attempt to re-charge and operate that AC system.

Car is quiting while going down road

Have you ever replaced the ignition coil? Sometimes a coil will heat up and break apart inside losing your connection/charge inside it to fire your plugs.

The heater just up and quit working in my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with no warning whatsoever. I can feel heat coming through the vents when going down the road, but the fan isn't working on any speed....

Does the fan work on A/C? If the fan isn't blowing, check the fuse. Heat when going down the road is simply an indication that the air from outside is coming through the system. If fuse is fine, blower motor is probably out.

shuts off while driving down road, then restarts 10 min, later is a bad crank sensor. does it set a fault code, have car scanned, auto zone will do this free of charge.

Suburban stalls while driving after running for 15-30 minutes. After letting it sit for 5-10 min it runs fine for another 5-10 minutes, then starts doing it all over again.

a bad crank sensor can cause this. shuts off while going down road, and will start about 10 min, later with no problems runs fine until it quits again. hope this helps,
