Question about 2007 Ford F

1 Answer

Front end alignment

Getting conflicting information, I have a 2007 Ford F150 4door 4wd. The front end needs alignment, I have one shop that tells me I need to purchese a shim kit to do the camber and the dealership tells me no it has a camber adjustment. which is correct?

The independant shop is correct, as well as the dealer. There are aftermarket parts available (and required, in my opinion) that allow for adjustment. Do that and be happy.

The dealer has only FORD stuff and they are clueless about this issue. They think replace parts and everything is okay and it is NOT.

Get the aftermarket parts, which have adjustable, ecentric attributes that allow for adjustment.

The front end needs to be aligned perfectly, or burn tires.

My front passenger wheel makes a rubbing noise at 50 mph

You just need to have a mechanic or someone look at the front end. Has it been happening long enough to cause any odd tire wear on the tire? If the front end alignment is off, you could certainly get a lot more road noise, but even a badly worn tire would cause some noise.
If the tire is actually rubbing against something, and you hear it at 50 mph, that seems to indicate badly worn suspension parts- like ball joints or struts...so you should consider a good front end alignment shop and tell them the condition. They can check the tires and the front end as well. A reputable shop would check all that anyway, to make sure that the alignment job will actually keep the front end true.

A fires misalignment with the road is corrected by a wheel alignment providing all the steering components are within acceptable spec. Go to a good full service front end shop that specializes in truck alignments.

I have a vibration problem in my ford Expedition 2007 car , it starts vibrating when the speed exceeds 120 km/hr .I tried to take it to different shops to fix it without success. I replaced the tyres...

You obviously have a suspention problem that needs to be found. If it's a 4wd, the u-bolts to the front end can get loosened and cause the front to shake. the bushings that set the front end in alignment can also be wearing and not be holding the way they should. I'd take it either to a good suspention shop or the dealer and let them look at it.

check if your shocks are leaking. Jack up the car and with the right wheel off the ground check it for play in the bearing if it is tight and not grinding it is good. I would try another alignment shop if you dont find anything. Oh by the way dont let the wife hit any more curbs. If it is hitting curbs it could get knocked out of alignment.

Front wheel alignment

you need to let an alignment shop handle it. The vehicle has to be perfectly level front to rear and side to side, if this is not correct the alignment will not be accurate.

If you have just spent the money on yierod ends I would take it to a front end shop and have them do a front end alignment there is much more to a front end then just toe in and toe out, they will set your caster camber and toe in for you

Steering wheel turn to right, 1995 aerostar-extended

Something is wrong with the front end. Bring it in for a front end alignment (that could be all it needs) and have them check for problems with front end suspension components. There may be something that is worn out ( such as ball joints, or tie rod ends) that is causing the uneven tire wear. There may also be a problem from hitting a large pot hole, or curb, which bent something causing this. Tell the shop to NOT align the front end if they find that some components need to be replaced, as when something is replaced, you should have the front end aligned, and you don't want to have it done twice.

Hope I can help...but you have conflicting symptoms. IE... front end vibration but no shimmy in steering wheel?
Let me tell you this: If you feel the vibration when cruising(no brake & not accellerating) @ 60-70 mph; then 95% of the time it is in the tire/wheel/balance combination. (I know you said they were new but could still be out-of-round)
