Really simple depending on the year of your Ranger which you did not specify

basically you remove a few bolts/screws
slide the cluster forward
disconnect 3-4 electrical connectors and/or speedometer cable
remove the cluster and then remove the cover
cannot remove the cover without removing the cluster

My speedometer works but my digital odometer does not work on my 2003 old alero

This is one guy's advice: Replace the speedo head, that should take care of the problem."

This site is also interesting because the guy said
General Motors cars had instrument cluster problems from 2003 through 2006. When I researched instrument cluster problems on the Internet what I found raised concerns in me. Many of those vehicles had problems that began with the instrument cluster, but eventually led to the engine refusing to start.
(an electronic instrument cluster, digital instrument panel or digital dash for short, is a set of instrumentation, including the speedometer, that is displayed with a digital readout rather than with the traditional analog gauges. Many refer to it simply as a digital speedometer.)

How do I REPLACE light to speedometer honda odyssey 2006

You will first have to remove the screws that hold the dash surrounding the instrument cluster then use molding tools to help pop the panels off to access the instrument panel/ Once you get to the panel and remove it here is a good video that will help with the rest.

Hi, it's possible the bulb is burned out or not making good contact with the circuit board. It should come on during the bulb check when you first turn the key on. Pull out the cluster and check the bulb. If it's good, see if you can clean the contact surfaces to get it working again. Or, move to another state where they don't worry about stupid things like a light bulb.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the two steering column shroud-to-panel retaining screws and remove the shroud.
  3. Remove the lower instrument panel trim.
  4. Remove the cluster trim cover from the instrument panel by removing the eight screws.
  5. Remove the four instrument cluster to panel retaining screws.
  6. Position the cluster slightly away from the panel for access to the back of the cluster to disconnect the speedometer.

If there is not sufficient access to disengage the speedometer cable from the speedometer, it may be necessary to remove the speedometer cable at the transmission and pull cable through cowl, to allow room to reach the speedometer quick disconnect.
  1. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the printed circuit, and any bulb-and-socket assemblies from the wiring harness to the cluster assembly and remove the cluster assembly from the instrument panel.

To install:
  1. Apply approximately 1 / 8 in. diameter ball of D7AZ-19A331-A Silicone Dielectric compound or equivalent in the drive hole of the speedometer head.
  2. Position the cluster near its opening in the instrument panel.
  3. Connect the wiring harness connector to the printed circuit, and any bulb-and-socket assemblies from the wiring harness to the cluster assembly.
  4. Position the cluster to the instrument panel and install the four cluster to panel retaining screws.
  5. Install the panel trim covers and the steering column shroud.
  6. Connect the battery ground cable.
  7. Check operation of all gauges, lamps and signals.

My speedometer and odometer and cruiser control not operate also horn nto oprate

Looks like you need a new speedometer cable. I'm not sure of availability of new ones, not that hard to put in, the one end unscrews from where it hooks into the transmission between the fire wall and the engine, the other end connects to the rear of the instrument panel, a bunch of screws takes the dash panel out, and the instrument panel gets loose enough to reach behind it and disconnect the cable and install the new one...good luck...Chris

Where is the fuse box located in a 1996 jeep grand cherokee? For the dash. The automatic windows, locks, gas gage and speedometer do not work.

The fuse panel is found on the passenger side of the vehicle. Open the passenger side door and you should see a "fuse access door" on the side of the instrument panel/dash just under the vent.

How do I access the dash lights for the speedometer and the tachometere? You cannot easily remove the dash. Are they accessible through an air vent?

you can do it like this. Let me know if you have questions.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds for models equipped with an air bag.
CAUTION Some models covered by this guide may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS.
  1. Remove the fuse box cover from under the left side of the instrument panel.
  2. Remove the heater control knobs.
  3. Using a screwdriver, carefully pry off the heater control panel.
