Didn't I answer this a while back? Yes you can. I took the air shocks out of my Grand Marquis when they gave out and I didn't want to give Ford the $2300 they wanted to replace them, so I got a pair of reg shocks, they fit perfect, leveled right up and rode nice. No problem. I thought they were going to sag, but they didn't. Check it out.

How to change rear air suspension on 1999 ford

The air suspension can be a tricky thing to mess with. When we were looking to replace just one of the rear bags it was going to be costly. My husband did some checking around online and found
They offered great products at a great price and we were very pleased with the outcome of the replacement of the non air system. If you are replacing the entire system you are looking at a pretty penny. I would check Strutmasters out before you replace the air on your Expedition.

Ford Expedition rear bumper is lower

Either someone backed into it or you have a suspension issue. If you have air suspension the light should be on indicating a malfunction. If you do not have air suspension you may have collapsed spring if nothing else is broken

Rear Suspension 2002 Ford Expedition

they make aftermarket spring kits for air ride removal. you can also get used parts from an expedition without air ride. My personal opinion there isn't a great difference in ride quality the only advantage the air ride has is that it will raise the vehicle ground height when in 4x4
