Question about Land Rover Freelander
Not sure whether you are addressing this issue as a problem, or just an observation, as this light is related with the immobilizer system on your vehicle. The Immobilizer System protects your car from theft. A properly-coded master or valet key must be used in the ignition switch for the engine to start. If the indicator starts to blink, it means the system does not recognize the coding of the key. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), remove the key, reinsert it, and turn the switch to ON (II) again. The system may not recognize your key's coding if another immobilizer key or other metal object is near the ignition switch when you insert the key. To make sure the system recognizes the key code:
1.Do not keep other immobilizer keys on the same key ring.
2.Use a plastic or leather key fob, not metal.
3.Keep other keys away from your vehicle's key and the ignition switch while trying to start the engine.

Everything on this car is computer controlled and capable of self testing in order to find the cause a quickly and effectivly as possible. A diagnostic data scanner will be needed to access the modules. Most likley the shifting (prndle) switch is bad but the labor and cost to replace is so expensive its best to get this diagnosed correctly.

Is it possible for you to tell me if there have been any sort of codes flashing on the main console or dash?
Also what mode are you in when this is happening, or is it happening in all modes?
Sport/Manual/Cruise/Hill Descent modes.
If you could let me know and I could give you a more narrowed version as to why this is doing this.
