Hi

Not sure whether you are addressing this issue as a problem, or just an observation, as this light is related with the immobilizer system on your vehicle. The Immobilizer System protects your car from theft. A properly-coded master or valet key must be used in the ignition switch for the engine to start. If the indicator starts to blink, it means the system does not recognize the coding of the key. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), remove the key, reinsert it, and turn the switch to ON (II) again. The system may not recognize your key's coding if another immobilizer key or other metal object is near the ignition switch when you insert the key. To make sure the system recognizes the key code:

1.Do not keep other immobilizer keys on the same key ring.
2.Use a plastic or leather key fob, not metal.
3.Keep other keys away from your vehicle's key and the ignition switch while trying to start the engine.

Let us know if you have something more to know else accept the suggestion.

Everything on this car is computer controlled and capable of self testing in order to find the cause a quickly and effectivly as possible. A diagnostic data scanner will be needed to access the modules. Most likley the shifting (prndle) switch is bad but the labor and cost to replace is so expensive its best to get this diagnosed correctly.

Hi,

Is it possible for you to tell me if there have been any sort of codes flashing on the main console or dash?

Also what mode are you in when this is happening, or is it happening in all modes?
Sport/Manual/Cruise/Hill Descent modes.

If you could let me know and I could give you a more narrowed version as to why this is doing this.

Thanks

Jason

when i started the vehicle this morning, the leveling picture in the dashboardwas flashing green.after i put it on drive the picture turns steady orange and the park sign in the cluster panel changed from the letter D to the flashing letter F than flashing number 4.IT kept doing it from F to 4 ,from 4 to F.THE LETTER D NEVER CAME BACK UNTIL I RESTARTED IT.this happens in all modes. NOTE:THERE IS A LEVELLING SWITCH LOCATED BY THE SHIFTER.AFTER I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE THE GREEN PICTURE WAS FLASHING THAN DISSAPEARED WHEN I CLICKED THE SWITCH.I PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVE MODE THEN THE ORANGE SYMBOL COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATE ON 2ND GEAR OR MAYBE HIGHER.

    Ok,

The leveling lamp which is showing up on the dash is telling you that there is a problem in the Hi-Low decent control module or the switch which you use to switch the transmission into the Hi-Lo decent mode.

Now you need to check for codes so that the fault can be narrowed down.

If you are able to do this let me know and I can give you the information you need, if you can't then you will need to take it to a Land Rover specialist to extract the codes.

    Hope this has helped.

Trans flashes F4 an will no change gears

The transmission in this truck is computer controlled so what must be done 1st is to have the control module scanned for fault codes so you can make sense of what area needs to be diagnosed and repaired to cure the problem. Right now you are locked in failure mode strategy or limp as some call it.

Freelander TD4 2004 Engine light comes on at 3000rpm cuts power

I don't wish to worry you but I think the turbo kicks in at around 2500rpm and it sounds like it isn't doing so, hence the management light coming on. It could be that failing. Be careful here, apparently the turbo uses the engine oil to maintain its operating temperature and if the turbo seals fail in anyway it eats the engine oil, with the resulting total failure of the power unit. So if you do nothing else, keep an eye on the engine oil level. (You may also notice oil smoke out the exhaust as well).
Unfortunately it looks like a trip to the dealer for them to check what the engine management is saying.

S Light came on dash board

Your "s" light is probably surrounded by something that looks like a gear. If that is true, then you have selected sport performance of the transmission. To deselect the sport option, look near the bottom of the gearshift and you shall see a button that says "mode", press that button and the light should extinguish.

Connect four wheel drive for a freelander land rover 2005

The Freelander, along with all Land Rovers are permanently in 4 wheel drive: You need to take the car to a workshop to see what is happening. Freelanders have big problems with the transfer box, this maybe the problem. When you reverse the car and put the car steering to full lock whilst reversing, do you feel that the car is blocking or binding, as though you have the brakes on. If so this is an indication that the transfer box is faulty. These boxes cannot be repaired, replacement only and are quite expensive.
Hope this helps
