You need to check and see if the engine is getting fuel from the fuel pump and if you are getting fire from the ignition,if both are present then most likely the timing chain and gears are your problem

It sounds like your timing belt jumped a tooth. You'll have to realign your camshaft to crankshaft and change your timing belt. Also, did you recently fill up?

My 1986 Ford F-150 5.0 EFI runs good, but when I start it it revs to 1700 rpm untill I give it a little gas then it drops to normal rpm. How do I stop it from the high revs when started?

Does it rev high when started cold or hot? If it does it either hot or cold, check the throttle position sensor on throttle body. If that is not bad, then check the automatic choke sensor.

1986 ford econoline ignition failure

It could be your catalytic converter which is clogged, when the car is cold.. you are getting enough exhaust escaping allowing the car to run, but it will be very restrictive, once this is hot is so restricted that it will not allow the car to restart.
This can be a serious condition and if parked over dry grass or trash could actually start a fire. Take you vehicle to a respectable exhaust specialist.

1985 ford ranger runs good for a couple of days

Is it carburated? Rebuild it. Backfire is fuel leaving engine without burning popping in exhaust system. Bad valves?

WELL PLEASE GO TO FORD DEALER. INDEPENDENT SHOPS GUESS ALOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SPECIALIZED. DEALER'S THESE DAY'S ARE JUST AS CHEAP AS INDEPENDENT SHOP DUE STAY COMPETATIVE. IF YOU GO THERE FOR A CONCERN,IT WILL GET FIXED FOR THAT CONCERN END OF STORY. THE DEALER GIVES YOU A QUOTE THAT'S WHAT YOU PAY OTHERWISE IF ITS MISDIAGNOSED THEY PAY FOR THE REST TO IT'S RIGHT. PLEASE CONSIDER DEALER. MAY BE A FUEL PUMP RELAY OR PUMP. YOU DIDN'T MENTION ENGINE SO I HAVE TO GUESS. POSSIBLY A STATOR AND TFI MODULE,REALLY COMMON ON 302'S AND 351W ENGINES WHEN THEY GET HOT. Rough idling and poor fuel economy on 92ford f-150

This whole problem is most likey due to a sludged up intake and idle speed control valve, do the following procedure and it should take care of the problems, also run a couple of cans of LUCUS brand fuel injector cleaner through, I know u will see it is more expensive than other brands, but the thing is it works!
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
