Question about 2007 BMW X5 3.0si SAV

1 Answer

Hi, I have a BMW X5 2004 model. I have locked the boot lid with the handle of my carry bag caught right in the middle of the locking mechanism. When I try to open the tail gate from out side switch pad, I can hear the lock try to open but it can't clear the latch because the carry bag handle strap is on the way. I can't see any key opening from inside either. Carry bag strap does not move and jammed tight inside the lock. Please advise me how to open the boot lid.

SOURCE: locked keys in 325

you will have to call a profesional locksmith who can make you a key for the door only to unlock it, i do auto lockouts for a living but we are unable to unlock them with standard tools for unlocking cars, I can pump open the door and hit the unlock switch but it will never unlock the door, the car alarm prevents this from doing so. Slim jims dont work on these also, nothing works, BMW actaullay requires us to tow them to the dealership whenever we get lockouts for BMW's. give the dealership your VIN number and they can send you another key for about $150, if you ca afford a BMW then u can afford $150 to get a new key.

Hiya, same thing happened to me with my e39 2yrs ago. Keys were stuck in boot for 2days, in the end I sussed out how to get have to take off the reg plate, then, with a pencil, drag a line from where the key goes in down to the catch where the boot actually locks. Then you drill a hole anywhere along that line, this will give you access to the bar that connects the locking mechanism, just put a long nosed pliers into the hole and pull the bar, and bingo the boot opens!

SOURCE: central locking does not work on my BMW 320D SE model

there is a motor placed inside the doors for the operation of the central lockin system. when you open the door by key this motos is activated and all door locks are released. your problem may because of this motor is failed.

cause of the failure
1.the wire going to the motor may be chopped off.
2.the junction box connecting the wires may be damaged.
3.fuse may be blown out.
4.motor itsef damaged.

so please check weather power is coming to the motor using multi meter. if the power is not coming to it then the problem is with the wires. if the power is coming to it then problem is with the motor.

i suggest you to take to BMW because you need to remove the door pannel its better if they do it.

please vote me if my answer was useful to you.

1999 BMW M3 - passenger seat goes back and forth on track whenever gears engage

Dear Nancy,
I am going to do some guessing, and I hope I get it right.
I think you mean the passenger seat slides loosely on it's track whenever you shift gears and accelerate, or brake the car.
There is a release handle that is supposed to lock the seat position selector in place, and it must be not working properly.
I have noticed that on many cars, if a piece of trash, or maybe a coin, gets dropped between the seat and the hump in the middle of the floor, it can lock this mechanism.
Have someone take a really good flashlight or light of some kind and examine the track and see if something is blocking the locking mechanism under the seat.
God bless your efforts.

I can't open boot as a bag's plastic handles have caught in the mechanism. It's a Ford Focus Zetec 2011. Thanks

The boot mechanism is designed to not be able to tampered with with the boot lid shut, hence cannot be removed when closed..

Can you gain access through the rear seats? if so try heating the bag/mechanism with a blow dryer, might soften and loosen bag, don't place too much heat so that you melt anything..

I am guessing this car is still under warranty, yes? The part is a cheap plastic thing in the middle of the door assembly that has either broken or has come disconnected. The dealer should not have a problem replacing this for free under warranty. If it's an issue, just demand the door lock kit. 2013-toyota-rav4-front-passenger-door-xrysbksmd4oe40lchygmaasz-4-0.jpg

2008 bmw 750li the trunk not open

There is a valet switch in he center console and make sure it is switched on so it will open. Does it open from trunk switch on the trunk or from the manual key cylindr in the trunk deck lid? If it does not work from the manual key release on the deck lid then the lock in the trunk is faulty and will need to be drilled and removed unless your a lucky one and have the ski boot opening in the center of backseat fold down arm rest ? If there is a opening then use a hanger and grab the emergency release handle at the right rear of the trunk deck lid underneath, it is glow in the dark colored.

I have a 2005 Audi A8L. Last week I got something out of the boot and then closed the lid, but instead of hearing the reassuring sound of the boot lid locking, there was none and the boot lid remained...

Hi Barry,

Sometimes, the locking mechanism closes while the lid remains open. Simply press your unlocking button on your fob, or in the vehicle. Then try to close the lid again.

Hi, my central locking wont unlock the boot (renault clio 2002).

Its sounds like a sticky boot lock it wont be the remote, open the boot with the key and spray all around the lock and lock mechanism with WD-40 then lock and unlock keep repeating unlock, lock using both the key and remote it should free off.

Be sure to use plenty of WD-40 on the underside of the boot lid into the mechanism dont be shy with it.

Hope this helps.

Can't get at interior of boot lid lock to fix broken lock.

There should be a very small lever on the lock reciever assembly , it's a left over from the manual cable on previous models ,It will slide in a slotted groove , but will still be present on the lock housing. Entry from rear passanger seating and a good torch a bit of luck and patience .

Bmw x5 auto 2002

Sounds like a faulty microswitch which is located on the boot lock mechanism, even though the boot might be locked, its still thinking its open and would need replacing. Unfortunately, I believe that this comes as one piece with the boot lock.

Another thing to be aware of one these is the wiring loom coming out from the body of the car and into the bootlid (on the right hand side boot lid when open) If you pull the rubber "tubing" off you'll gain access to the wiring. A common fault is for the wires to stress/break causing false contact. Hopefully one of these two problems should be your cause. Let me know how it goes!

The boot wont open neither by the button inside or the remote

this sounds like a broken wire inside the corrugated tubing for the boot/trunk loom located by the right hand hinge on the lid
