If you never over heated the engine then it cannot be the pistons if you did you might need to get your engine rebuilt or it could just be you need to adjust your lifters which are located inside the valve cover were you add oil.

Your fan that is attached to your blowermotor is loose, causing the rattle, or the bearings in your blower motor are bad, causing the shaft and fan both to rattle.

Rattling sound during acceleration..is it ok to use 95 octane gas instead of 91 mybe the rattling sounds will disappear??

that would be an option-but you have a deeper problem that could destroy your motor-your engine rattle may be the timing chain for the valvesor it could be detonation which is the cylinders are firing just a little too earlybefore the piston reaches tdc -there should be a sensor that stop this from happening -take the car to a shop before you have a totally blown motor-Denny

Noisy motor front end vn v6 commodore, bad rattle sound??????????

It sounds like your timing chain may be worn, A bit of a pain to change but do-able if you have the tools and some time. The harmonic balancer makes more of a knock than a rattle.

Mitsubishi Lancer ES '02 - Rattling noise in 1st gear...

I think you might need to ask someone to throttle up the car and you look underneath to try locating the rattling noise. Don't forget that this model runs the exaust pipe in front of the motor so it might be an exaust rattle as well??
