Check all tail light and brake light bulbs, look for any that may still work but look darker than the others, make sure to check the center brake light bulb on the rear shelf.

Lowbeam headlights wont work, brake lights are out and check engine light is on...changed th dimmer switch, no luck

For the low beam problem, Swap relays 45 & 46 in the underhood fuse panel. Relay 46 is for the Low Beams. If that fixes the light, replace the relay that cam out of position 46.
Since the high mounted brake light is working, that indicates that the brake switch is good. You need to check the bulbs in the rear tail light assembly, if they are good, check fuse #34.

Why wont the brake lights shine when pressing the brake pedal but the tail lights are working on the same bulb

test the brake light switch located at the brake pedal, disconect the switch & bridge the wires, turn ignition on if you have lights its a faulty switch (very common on ford falcons) if not check you have power at that plug, if power check the globes cause you could have blown globes as they are twin filiment globes (1 globe but 2 lights tail & brake) & the brake filiments might be blown.

Diagram for wiring for break lights on rav4 1996

The AutoZone website may have a wiring diagram in the sites self help repair section.

If you have a voltmeter check for voltage and ground continuity at the bulbs. Check for voltage before and after the brake switch (operate the switch). If you don't have a voltmeter connect something up with a 12V bulb.

If you have voltage after the switch (when operated) but none at the bulb might check the brake/tail light sensor. This is the actual sensor box located in the trunk, drivers side. The sensor can fail resulting no brake lights.

There have been various posts at this forum on the sensor, suggest you do a site search to find these and review them.

But first start checking for voltage.

My friend; Try this; 1. Check the fuses & relay boxes at cabin & engine compartment for any burn fuses / relay replace if any. 2. Check for any broken / chafing wires; repair if any. Check for any dis-connected plug & or wires; re-connect if any. You may need to replace some brake pads & or shows. You may need to bleed the whole brake system. Then do these procedures to erase & rest it; Dis- connects the negative battery's cable; While the ignition switch in the ON position ?Don?t run the engine" So, for 10 - 15 minutes only. Reconnect the negative cable. Try it, & let me know if I add any benefits to you. I hope I add some thing valuable to you. Regards; MAR; soer2@yahoo.com

Brake lights wont turn on.1994 gmc sierra.

This may sound too simple, but first verify that you are getting voltage to the light socket. Use meter on d.c. If you are getting voltage, and your bulb is good, it could be a bad ground. Don't overlook the brake light system goes through the directional signal in the steering column.
