Question about 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Open Question

Chevy Equinox 2006 Turn Signal Flasher was clicking after disengaged randomly. Then the Flasher/relay stopped working altogether. I went to auto zone to pick up a generic one and none of them work. I blew a fuse when I tried to install the off brand which was rated for 12.8v just the the original flasher was. Also the replacement was a 3 prong exact match. But when I went to the GM dealer they wanted $102.20 for this little tiny relay. Do I have any other options or am I stuck with only buying this part from GM? Thanks

SOURCE: 1997 Chevy Tahoe both turn signals stopped working

Sounds like the flasher unit to me. Normally the emergency flasher and turn signal are separate.

SOURCE: I have A 2000 Chevy 3500 Express Van and the brake

Hi,

When you said that you checked the brake switch, did you check it live? Meaning verified live power to the switch, press switch, and then power came out the other terminal?

If so, also verify zero power on brake press, at the offending brake light bulb terminal. You must verify the test light each time you move it...leave running lights on...

After verifying that there is no power coming, after the brake is pressed, note the wire color and find it where it comes to the steering column and test there... This would eliminate wires and connections between front and the rear of the vehicle, unlikely, but needs to be tested.

After verifying no power at that terminal, then yes the t/s switch is certainly suspece. This may be the time to get a mechanic to verify and replace the switch, there are locks, tilt mechanisms, air bags, column bearings, etc involved. Failures risk loss of vehicle control (locking or binding for example.)..

Hope this gets you going in the right direction.

Rapid clicking sound like turn signal sound. Happens when first started for about ten seconds then happens sporadically. Where is the turn signal relay located?

It doesn't sound like it's the turn signal flasher, sounds as it is the recirculate door actuator. Does it sound like it's coming from the passenger side, behind the dash. They will click when the ignition is first turned on and as you stated, at random times.

How do you locate and test flasher relay on a 2006 Chevy Equinox? Turn signals and hazards stopped working after changing audio system. Fuses test good. Thank you, Mike

Did you change any wiring , tap into any wiring ? There is no flasher relay on your vehicle . It controlled by the BCM !
Turn Signal/Hazard Lamps
The body control module (BCM) is responsible for controlling the turn signals and hazard lamps. When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left turn or right turn position, the BCM receives a signal from the turn signal switch. The BCM then sends an on-off voltage signal to either the left or right turn signals and their instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicator. When the hazard switch is pressed, the BCM receives a signal from the hazard switch. The BCM then will send an on-off voltage signal to all the turn signal lamps. All the turn signal lamps will flash including both IPC turn signal indicators.
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair ! We on here have no clue what you did . On this newer vehicles ,if you know nothing about automotive electronics you really should take to a professional

Turn the switch on to power the signalstat/flasher,listen for the ticking sound(have signal on for the side that works)and figure about where the sound's coming from(will be just under dash about the knees when sitting in seat)then stick your hand under there. You will feel the flasher ticking.Pull it down and replace it.

I have a 1997 chevy blazer the hazards work fine but the turn signal is not working I checked the fuse in the fuse panel. what else could it be

Replace the Turn Signal Flasher Relay. It has 2 relays. One for the Hazard lights and one for the Turn Signals. The Turn Signal Flasher Relay is located Front seating area, driver side, passenger side of steering column, under dash, mounted near cigarette lighter. Optional mounting location is under dash, on driver side of steering column. (Curtorsey Auto Zone)
